Feelthere ERJ Regional Jets V2

Featured Replies

Morn'n Folks,

Well - since my new rig is coming along nicely - I decided to treat myself to a new plane purchase... I chose Feelthere's ERJ Regional Jets V2 pack... One of the reasons I chose this purchase is I've see an nice old blue USAir paint in some of the promotional pictures and again in the manual... I've checked the McPhat site and I can't find it there... Would anyone know where I can find this or some other high quality USAir paints for this bird ?? What I did find surprising is not a single airline paint was included in the package - all you get is the Embraer's factory colors... C'mon guys - throw us a bone - a few airlines should be included in a 40+ dollar pack...

Scott

I thought the same thing when I bought this package. I found some repaints over at Flightsim.com Some of these lead to other sites. I really do like the airplanes.

There are some here, from the Feelthere website, but I don't know which they are. I just fly LOT ;-) http://www.feelthere.com/2010/download.html

Thanks Guys - appreciate the help - I'll check the site... I'm a bit of a US Air junkie and I spend the most time flying their colors...

One question - the ERJ's don't have an auto throttle ? It has the ability to set the speed bug - but - that's all it is - right - just a bug ?

Scott

Hello

There is also a great tutorial in the library here for the Feelthere Legacy written by Rafeal Leite.

The Embraer ERJ series, (The 135, 145 and Legacy) do not have an autothrottle. They DO have engines controlled by FADEC computers, which have some autothrottle-like characteristics, but only in certain flight regimes.

In a climb, using VNAV, the thrust levers are left in the CLIMB gate, which sets a target N1 thrust setting (calculated by the FMS). As long as the aircraft is climbing, the autopilot will use pitch to control airspeed, so the thrust levers don't really have to be touched.

However, once the aircraft levels off in cruise, the thrust levers have to be manually retarded by the pilot to reduce thrust to keep the aircraft at the target cruise airspeed, and to prevent getting into an overspeed situation. Throughout the cruise segment, power settings and airspeed have to be continuously monitored and manually adjusted as needed.

Likewise in a descent, thrust has to be manually controlled.

Other FADEC-equipped aircraft that have a similar operating technique for thrust control include the Citation X, Lear 60 and Gulfstream G200.

Now, the "big boys" of the Embraer fleet, the E-Jets (170/175 and 190/195) DO have true autothrottles which automatically control thrust in all flight regimes from takeoff through climb, cruise, descent, approach and landing. The pilot will fully advance the thrust levers at takeoff, and may never have to touch them again until just before touchdown.

The ERJ and E-Jet throttle systems are fully electronic, just like on the Airbus... there is no mechanical connection between the thrust levers and the engines.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the detailed write up - that helps - I think I'v got it... Conducted my first flight tonight - KLGA (Imaginsim) to KPHL (SunSkyJet) and while I still have alot to learn - it worked out pretty well...

Hi Gavin,

Thanks for the link - it had the McPhat USAir paint I was looking for - much appreciated...

Appreciate all the other help as well...

Glad I could help Scott. 99% of the time it's others helping me out here, nice to 'give' for a change ;-)

Hey Scott. I hope you're using AES for KPHL. It was added with the latest version and it's a freebie

Hi Ian,

Haven't tried AES yet - maybe I'll give it a try when I get my FS9 install fully up to speed...

You'll love it - and PHL is a freebie so it won't cost you a penny.

Hello Scott, how are you enjoying the ERJ line of aircraft so far? I've been looking for a good regional aircraft, and these seemed to fit the bill. Although, the lack of auto throttle kinda made me shy away. How was your first flight having to manage the throttles on your own?

Steven

Hi Steven,

I've always liked the ERJ - it looks sexy just sitting on the runway... I've messed with the POSKY setup for years with a customized panel using gauges from ISGsim... So - it's not that hard for me to like the Feelthere version now that I've found some if the paints I was looking for... I'm still learning but the throttles aren't such a big deal - as I normally prefer older tin... Most of my jetliner time is spent in the Dreamfleet 727, the Tinmouse 737-200, and the Coolsky MD-80... You just have to watch you speed a little in flight... I haven't figured out the autopilot/FADEC yet to have the plane hold it's speed in the climb (I wish my Stec-65 had the same ability) - but - I'm looking forward to using it... Overall - I think I'm going to be pretty happy with my purchase... The flight dynamics are one of the most important aspects of a plane for me - and - just seeing Rob Young (Real Air) mentioned in the credits means the FDE should more than meet expectations... I've only had time for one "real" RC4 flight but I did mess around a bunch before doing it... So far it seems like a pretty decent plane and a welcome addition to my hangar... For me - it certainly has more character than it's larger Embraer siblings...

Scott
