October 16, 201213 yr I have ordered a pc with these specs Graphics Card: nVidia Geforce GTX 650 OS: Windows 7 x64 RAM: 16.00gb Processor: Intel Core i7-3770k (3.5ghz) motherboard: ASUS® P8Z77-V LX: USB 3.0, SATA 6GBs, ATI®CrossFireX I was hoping to be able to use REX and some payware aircraft and also some freeware scenery is this a suitable PC?
October 16, 201213 yr Even without overclocking I think you should be ok, might struggle at large complex airports though without lowering some settings
October 16, 201213 yr The GPU is the weak spot. I'd go to a GTX670 or higher if necessary, depending on the resolution of your monitor. What power supply? Case? Cooling? HDD? This post should be moved to the hardware forum. October 17, 201213 yr RAM: 16.00gb THIS would be a MUCH better bang for buck. Graphics Card: nVidia Geforce GTX 650 Upgrade to THIS instead... Trust me it will help alot with removing the GPU bottleneck. Processor: Intel Core i7-3770k (3.5ghz) The Core i5 3570K would be a much better value considering you are doing a budget build.
October 17, 201213 yr Newbie, I just finished my first build with similar specs (using an i5-3570K). I also got the GTX 650 because I wanted a couple of months to play around with settings before dumping a bunch of cash into a graphics card. To date I haven't had any issues and have been able to run most settings on high/maxed without buggy frames. I admit I have yet to load any scenery add-ons, at which time I will probably start looking at a better card.
October 17, 201213 yr Author I have ordered this pc so I cant change anything however I just need to know if it will run. mostly real environment xtreme and some pmdg stuff
October 17, 201213 yr I have ordered this pc so I cant change anything however I just need to know if it will run. mostly real environment xtreme and some pmdg stuff Yes you will be able to run most of your addons quite fine. You will just need to OC that processor if you want some seriosu performance gains.
October 18, 201213 yr Author I have thought about OC but it sounds a bit risky and Im not sure how I can do that
October 18, 201213 yr I have thought about OC but it sounds a bit risky and Im not sure how I can do that To each his own but you're basically throwing away money and free performance by not overclocking your chip, which is designed for and marketed to overclockers. No one's suggesting you overclock to an unsafe level, but it would behoove you to at least investigate the possibility.
October 18, 201213 yr I have thought about OC but it sounds a bit risky and Im not sure how I can do that It's risky only if you don't research (an hour or so), get greedy, or are fool-hearty about it. My old Core2 system (overclocked from 3.2 to 4.3GHz) is going on 6 years old. My friend, who I sold it to, is still using the system at that same overclock. The only thing to break since was the network card after a lightning storm! I jumped into computer building and overclocking at 16 years old with not a bit of knowledge. After some tinkering and reading, I was "up to snuff" very quickly. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
October 19, 201213 yr I have thought about OC but it sounds a bit risky and Im not sure how I can do that Overclocking is actually quite easy. Just post here in the forum if you have any questions. It also will really help with your performance.
October 19, 201213 yr Author So I have thought about overclocking my cpu but does this require any more hardware adjustments like new parts or anything because I've heard it can get hot very quickly so yeah.
October 19, 201213 yr Yes you would want an aftermarket cooler.... Examples of quality ones: Corsair H80/H100: http://www.corsair.com/cpu-cooling-kits/hydro-series-water-cooling-cpu-cooler/hydro-series-h100-extreme-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler.html Noctua DH14: http://www.noctua.at/main.php?show=productview&products_id=34&lng=en Hyper 212 (budget but still a great cooler): http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=3053 | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

My case sucks being a stock hp case I'm going to cut a hole and wire a fan in because I have to run it with the side off as of now to keep it cool.
