Assuming your GPU is decent, there doesn't appear to be anything obvious with the hardware. Have you checked out the assorted tweak guides? Either Word Not Allowed's or *******'s are the usual suspects. Have you started settings low and worked up, or gone for maxed out glory? The latter is generally optimistic!

Although you haven't mentioned anything about your GPU, I have a less than ideal FSX pc setup as well and with an untweaked fsx.cfg file, I have massive performance issues, including stutters. There is a ton of good information in both Word Not Allowed's and *******'s guides - the trick is to read it all, and apply one tweak at a time, and test.

With some patience, and usually a bit of sacrifice on your scenery settings, you can get things acceptably smooth.

Hi, sorry about that its an Nvidia GTS 450 should i list the details of the GPU at all ?

driver version

graphics clock

processor clock....etc ?

i aint checked the tweeks as yet my power surply is a 450w

i am also thinking of upgradeing to an SSd and doing a full reinstall as apose to cloneing the disk as my fsx gets "fsx fatal error has occurred" a fair amount

In your case matey, I'd say turn EVERYTHING down to minimum, and start with the tweaks listed by Costa....

I have a MEGA system and my PMDG737 ran like a dog with everything cranked up to 50% and no FSX tweaks..

I've just upgraded to a 1200w PSU for better power stability and cooling, as I have a water cooled rig and dual GPU, so you really shouldnt expect miracles.

Start at ground zero, and follow Kostas guide.. Thats what I'm doing now. I started again, fresh Win7 install on 2 SSD's in RAID0 and so far only FSX installed, nothing else.

Now I'm going to tweak the install according to Word Not Allowed and see if any addons change it, and how they change it...

More of a learning curve if you like, as last time I just installed everything back to back and didnt tweak anything other than the FSX default sliders..

This time around, I'd actually like to know what I'm doing and understand what each installed item is doing.

Oh, and update your profile with all your PC specs so we can see what your trying to run it on.

I recently upgraded my FSX install to a SSD - I'd like to think that it gave me some minor help in reducing the micro stutters I used to have, but honestly, it may also have just been a careful and thorough application of tweaking.

In your profile you can list your PC specifications and also list all of your addons. Look in the sidebar of some of the members here who have their computers listed in their profile. This will help others when you have questions like this in the future.

Best regards,

Jim

On Stutters. I have a pretty good gaming rig look to the left. Not the best but my first homebuilt. That said I have System Mechanics installed on my machine and nothing says happy flight simming like a good cleanout and reallignment. SM seems to be pretty good by getting rid of old clutter, re-alligning, defragging. I set up my machine and install via NickN's advice and I get fairly good frame rates etc. Hope it might help.

Respectfully,

Jet
