October 26, 201213 yr My only complain is that when Active Sky Evo updates stations it will slow my sim to 11-15FPS for 10-20sec till it finish the update. Any fix for this? When I was running ASE before upgrading to AS2012, I would get an actual lockup where the game would freeze for 8 seconds or so when the weather was updated. This was a major problem on short final. I finally traced the problem to the generation of thermals in ASE. When I set Automatic Thermal Generation and Terrain Based Up and Downdraft Generation to zero in the ASE options, the lockups went away completely. It's likely that Wake Turbulence Strength will also cause a slowdown, but I haven't noticed any myself. I've got Force High Priority Processes checked, which may make a difference, but even without it checked the thermals were a problem. If you still want thermals, try CumulusX. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! October 29, 201213 yr Author LHookins, thx, I've tried your setings and it's working! I was looking for 580GTX and 660Ti and I saw that 580GTX is way better than 660Ti. 660Ti only has 192bits, so I don't think that it will run FSX better than 580GTX. Thx Rockliffe I will try to buy a 580GTX, I only hope I can get the money as quickly as I want!! Another question, I have an error from SqwakBox from time to time, about a dll, but I can remember right now what dll, do you know someting about this? I have tried to uninstall and reinstall SB but I keep geting this error from time to time! October 29, 201213 yr Most important are your scenery and AI traffic settings; if those are set too high, you'll experience bad FPS. I have a system similar to yours, I'd say even a bit lower than yours, and FSX runs smoothly most of the time. First of all run either Bojote's tweaking tool http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html or follow Word Not Allowed's tweaking guide.http://forum.avsim.n...-guide-for-fsx/ or http://#####.wordpress.com/. Those tweaks are really great and helped me run FSX smoothly. However in some extremely dense areas, such as London City area or Downtown Seattle I get some stuters, too. Regards, Flo This is really great advice. Follow these and don't skip ahead...it will do wonders for your sim. Cody
October 29, 201213 yr Important thing to say is either or. Many miss that one should either do Bojote's tweaks or mine. Be aware that though Bojote's tweaks are quite good, they were made for older computers, while mine were tweaked for (overclocked) SB/IB systems.
October 29, 201213 yr Author I only use your setings Word Not Allowed! You are the best, you should be in the Hall of Fame!! October 29, 201213 yr LMH: HT is short for HyperThreading. The I5 does not have HT, just 4 cores. Dave, are you talking to me? Maybe the i5-2500k (which I've seen does wonders with FSX) has 4 cores and no HT, but mine (an i5-2435M, developed for laptops) has only two cores and four threads. I added links to the specs page . October 30, 201213 yr Dave, are you talking to me? Yes. I missed the laptop bit. A Intel trick. All desktop I5's have 4 cores, but some mobile I7 and I5's have 2 cores. FSX is multi-core but cannot use HT. Two cores should have AF=2 (not 14) or it might be better to leave it out. Dave

If I set AF=3 instead of 2 (so that I take Core0 also), would it work, or I'd be killing performance? Important thing to say is either or. Many miss that one should either do Bojote's tweaks or mine. Word Not Allowed, in the case of my laptop (the one in my specs), should I go then with Bojote's tweaks instead of yours? October 30, 201213 yr Word Not Allowed, in the case of my laptop (the one in my specs), should I go then with Bojote's tweaks instead of yours? Boah, with the HD3000 graphics? Beats me... I think Bojote's tweaks would be the safe bet. You can try mine, but I doubt the HD3000 will cope with BP=0.

I'll try with Bojote then. Is it there something else to do, apart from using his tweaking and tuning tool (http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html)? My idea is to run FSX in DX10; I understand performance should be better than with DX9. Currently I'm with vainilla FSX, addons would come after making sure FSX runs as I'd like. October 30, 201213 yr AF=3 is the same as leaving it out (default), both cores on. You can try either 2 or none. I am afraid yoou won't see much of a difference on your computer as it just doesn't have enough horsepower to run FSX at high settings. HIGHMEMFIX is a must, and the others can be tried one at a time but don't expect much help. Dave
October 30, 201213 yr I think it's a good idea to try out DX10 with those new developments and fixes. That could work well on the HD3000, I guess it supports DX10?
