Should I bite...

So I just bought it, and going through it, trying it out.

Word Not Allowed, same here.

Regarding weather, you should take a look a this post on the french forum:

http://forum.avsim.n...sx/page__st__50

Find post #52 and take a look at the pictures, both from inside FSX and a weather radar of some kind.

In the FSX picture you can see the approaching front far out to the right and it seems to simulate exactly what is seen on the radar.

As I understand the features in OpusFSX, this is what they mean by real weather from horizon to horizon.

Much weather will probably look similar, but IMC and horizon-to-horizon (fronts) seems to be very different from other addons.

I use both AS2012 and REX, but have not seen anything like this before.

Alright, it's good to have some comparisons.

Any please implement "start minimized" or hidden in tray as an option. I know a program remembers its position, but having to - minimize, right mouse click, close - each time I close the program is just a workaround.

Hi Word Not Allowed & Michael,

Just to confirm that was a realtime weather satellite photo and the front was moving to the East, just as Opus displayed it.

A happy OpusFSX user

KInd regards

Our geodesic mapping of the weather region to within FSX and P3D is 100% accurate to over 450km away in all directions, we didn't bother testing it out any further. The weather is accurately portrayed within each 16km cell within a weather grid of 992km x 992km, edge to edge. That's over 300 miles in all directions with all ATIS reports accurate to within a knot or two and a degree or two of the actual (FSX limitation not ours) but all cloud layers 100% accurate.

There are many many other points I can mention but won't seeing as people are hard at work trying to copy us. But just thought you might be interested.

Our WINTER heuristic weather interpolation algorithm has a second phase of development planned early next year. That will improve on weather depiction in METAR void areas like mid Atlantic. It's not too bad now but can be a lot better.

I think I have already mentioned all the other developments being undertaken at this moment. The development will of course be ongoing and continuous no matter what some other people might want to say.

Many thanks everyone, your freely voiced kind comments are much appreciated.

Oh I am sure there are going to be many who will try. I thank you for the above explanation.

I will definitely be looking forward to advancements, in both camera and weather areas.

Performance isn't the only benefit of running on a network computer. I run full screen, so having a program installed on a network computer allows access to the program without having to minimize or switching to windowed mode.

Hi Rendi

The networked option for the LWE won't be long now. But in full screen you can use the Addon menu to do most things. Everything else, like configuration, you usually do only once anyway.

Put this in another thread which may help others ..

Ok bought it, just did a flight from EGGD, i live 4 miles away and WX was spot on. Flew for 2 hours and only one thing to say .. AWWWWWSOME .. If you put £1 or what ever your currancy is in a pot every time you use the weather alone it will soon pay for its self because its worth it. Ive been a REX user for years (used REX textures) and Opus's weather generator is in a league of its own.

Flight ive just done was one of the best ive had and all because of what Opus gave me in weather. We all spend alot on scenery and aircraft but the one major aspect we neglect is the weather in which we fly. Ok its not 100% as some would like in functions, winds aloft or what ever a-n-other program offers and the developers are working on new functions. So my verdict ... Yes its worth the money just for the weather engine alone, after sim start less than 10 seconds i had the weather at my local airport 4 miles away.

Not plugging OpusFSX for the developers but fellow simmers who are 'on the fence' over this one, i wasnt disapointe. Next for me .... Linking up a pc for external views.

Is there any space for me in the bandwagon? Yesterday I installed the demo and did a quick takeoff just to see how the weather worked and I was simply in awe. Having used all AS and REX iterations for both FS9 and FSX, I have to say the weather and atmospherics provided by OpusFSX are second to none.

It gives a surreal feeling if actually flying in weather.

Hmmmmmmm, everyone is so raving about this thing, so I went about and checked the weather imagery, and this is what FSX depicted:

Then I checked the imagery:

Am I expecting too much? I departed London Gatwick out west, the view is to the north.

Wow, London sure is bright at 10PM! lol

But on a serious note, every product is not going to be 100% perfect. There are so many variables that come into play that any little thing could probably throw the engine/algorithm off.

Does the set time in FSX cause different weather? Not that I knew of... if you set current weather, it depicts current, no matter what time you have set in FSX. Otherwise there would be no need for historic data, I'd think?

Besides, what could I show if there were night?

I don't know either and I threw it out there as one of my usual attempt at humour. LOL But now that you mention it, one never knows. It would be a neat feature if the engine could grab historical weather data depending on the time/date chosen within FSX. With an option to disable that of course.

No problem. I'm currently a bit in a "state" due to some "situations"... I got the message, I was just wondering...
