October 25, 201213 yr As a user of REX/AS/EZCA combo, and pretty and very much used to it, having my G13 also highly configured with EZCA, I am using ALL of view commands via EZCA. Now, I have no problems moving some of them back to the simulator, if some requirements are met. I hope someone who is using OpusFSX can answer these, or maybe even the dev. My EZCA is configured to do following stuff: 1) over G13, I'm able to move with the small joystick around the cockpit. These are basically the arrow buttons on the keyboard, page-up and page-down buttons and I turn with the mouse. The mouselook is configured via button "V", which is in EZCA for a mode to pan around with the mouse. This must be switchable per a switch, especially not must-hold button, but as a switch. 2) I have different cockpit positions configured for each aircraft, which I "call" with the keyboard numeric buttons over the keyboard, 1-0; in NGX case, for example: 1: main view, 2: MCP, 3: lights, 4: FMC. All these views I can "edit" per button press on my G13 (macro which calls the assigned button in the EZCA interface) and then move with my mouse around, press the button again and the view would be saved. 3) These configurations are saved per aircraft EZCA has a terrible interface for head movement, and I never came to really editing it, but usually only using default 737 actions, which I saved and imported into NGX profile. Furthermore, how is the weather generation compared to AS? I want to know general opinions. Also, is there a weather flightplan management similar to AS? AS shows me the weather along the route, with winds aloft and the average. Quite important when planing flight. I'm always careful when picking new software, and I barely have time to test everything myself. Answers to there questions would make me my decision way easier and maybe make me a faster convert!
October 26, 201213 yr REXE Plus is just around the corner. I'd wait. AFAIK, Opus cams will mess up EZDok. The Good People at REX saw Opus as a major threat, and have properly responded with the same features, minus the Cams.
October 26, 201213 yr AFAIK, Opus cams will mess up EZDok. You can run Opus with EZDOK. You just disable the Opus cameras in the configuration section.
October 26, 201213 yr The Good People at REX saw Opus as a major threat, and have properly responded with the same features, minus the Cams. That's a bit premature, isn't it? Still waiting on REX, while very much enjoying Opus wx with REX textures. Scott
October 26, 201213 yr That's a bit premature, isn't it? Very true.. However, if they pull it off, I saved 50 bucks. If not, then sign me up.
October 26, 201213 yr Commercial Member The flight planning and true winds aloft are coming soon, please see our flight1 coming soon topic. We don't mess up the EZCA cameras, you can disable our Live Camera feature if you wish but it uses real world captured data, and you may be waiting quite a while for REX around that corner... Give the demo a try, it won't cost you anything and I'm sure you will love it. You can use any textures you want, HDE (freeware) and FEX are the most popular with our users. Regards Cheryl
October 26, 201213 yr I thank you everyone for the replies, but noone yet managed to answer my questions. The questions are about the functionality and not if it will break or not. I want to know the comparison on how views can be "called".
October 26, 201213 yr Commercial Member You can assign joystick buttons or unused keyboard commands to camera views, if you assign the same button/key to multiple views associated with the same aircraft then the control can be used to cycle the views. Plus... This is already listed in our Coming Soon Flight1 topic, Panning Control Keys ... Additional Live Camera option to pan the view around using the four arrow keys + two others. Plus, in rplacing EZCA you will most likely gain 3 to 6 FPS in performance! Does that help. Stephen
October 26, 201213 yr Sounds quite good Stephen! Thank you very much. I guess the assignments and view settings are always per aircraft? Can the profile or settings be somehow saved? I have a folder with bunch of settings for each of my aircraft. Not to mention that it would be a LOT of work to make views for each of my aircraft again... Furthermore, is there a smooth transition between changing views? Say I have keyboard "1" for main and keyboard "6" for OH, does the view pan smoothly from and to when pressing 1 and 6?
October 26, 201213 yr Commercial Member You can assign views to all aircraft or whole groups of aircraft, handy for those external shots which only need to be different for small and large aircraft. Yes, you can have smooth transition between all views, including external views now. Plus the configuration is very easy and quick. Regards Stephen
October 26, 201213 yr I learned how to make camera views on Opus in about 5 minutes. Way easier than EzDoc IMO. It has a understandable GUI that I like a lot better. It is easy to get all cameras the same zoom level. I had an issue with TrackIr being all over the place, downloaded the newest Beta for Opus and they addressed it. In their forums Word Not Allowed you will have no issues as I can tell you from someone else that owns a lot of addons, I have never seen support as quick as theirs. William Sequeira
October 26, 201213 yr Tried the demo? Opus Dynamic head movement and weather beats every other competitor out there. You're really missing out if you don't use OPUS (with REX textures) Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
October 26, 201213 yr Hi Omni, No, not yet. Simply didn't have the time yet. AS being in the market for a long long time, how does a "newcomer" Opus beat a long established weather program?
October 26, 201213 yr It kills it? Both in simplicity and function. Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
October 26, 201213 yr Interesting... How do you figure? In what way does it kill it? In fact, I was looking for simpler solutions than EZCA and AS, both requiring me to do a lot of work when preparing the aircraft. Rest assured, I will get to trying it out or buying when I get time.
