November 16, 201213 yr Has someone ever heard the wind shear warning message during an actual flight in the NGX? Is it even possible to simulate this in FSX or is the warning message included in the NGX just to simulate the real a/c? Main reason I'm asking is after all discussions about different wx engines in various other threads and considering the problem where FSX often very suddenly changes wind direction I thought wouldn't that trigger the wind shear warning message?
November 16, 201213 yr Nope, never heard it, even when I fell from the sky like a brick after a violent shift. But, this warning may be limited up to a certain height? Have to read up on that.
November 16, 201213 yr I think Ryan stated somewhere (before the release) that it could not be modeled due to FSX limitations in available data a predictive windshear system requires. So in the NGX it's only a simulation of the test. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Regards, Frank van der Werff
November 16, 201213 yr Author Ok, too bad because it would have been cool to experience this effect in the sim but thanks for the info.
November 16, 201213 yr Ryan posted it on similar topic, which raise to lot of pages. There are no windshear warning, due to limitations in FSX data, as Frank stated above Bartłomiej Ender

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Predictive Windshear is only part of the system, and needs a Wxr display to be of any use (so would never be done by PMDG). You don't need external data to model the rest of the system, which is what drives the windshear warning and caution lights and aural alerts. However the question is does FSX even include windshear modelling? If not no alerts could be triggered even if you included a WWS simulation.
November 16, 201213 yr Commercial Member However the question is does FSX even include windshear modelling? Nope. Well...yes and no. Do it have violently changing winds? Yes. Intentionally and with any amount of physical fluid logic to it? No. Kyle Rodgers
November 16, 201213 yr The only time I ever hear the "WIND SHEAR WIND SHEAR" warning call out is when I test the proximity system during flight deck preparation. I've never heard it called out or come up on the NAV display during a flight in the PMDG NGX. Ben Weaver SWA8485
