Heavy handed moderation of the FSX forum?

Featured Replies

Is 'Feedback' the new 'My forum, my rules'? If so, maybe the trend will export to 'another' place.

LOL Ron you need to have a little more faith in us as people. I do care believe it or not. Sometimes a public forum isn't comfortable for people to voice more personal opinions hence the option to PM. If you don't want to, then that's up to you.

You can't expect us to fix anything if we don't know what's broken.

Sincerely,

Chase

Like another poster above I also have experience moderating a couple forums outside of this hobby. It's no easy task, and I can empathize with the moderators here at AVSIM. I made my share of people unhappy and made some mistakes like anyone would.

The one rule of thumb I had for myself as a moderator was accountability. That translates to clear explanation of why (what forum rules) where the cause of my stepping in. And, more importantly, when I made a mistake I stepped up to it, if possible undid the action I took, and just like the explanation of why I stepped in, I posted an explanation of why I later reversed that action.

Unless the moderator that seems to be the focus of this thread has PM'd the OP or subsequent people who felt similar that accountability seems to be missing from this discussion so far.

To be sure I am not misunderstood, I am not putting down any moderator, honestly I am too new to AVSIM as an active user to have clue who is being talked about. And, I respect the challenges of the task, and the feedback of the moderators who have posted replies here. But so far, none of the replies have addressed what would appear to be a touch of over zealousness, even if it was an honest error with good intent.

Just one users humble and maybe even flawed opinion.

Yeah, c'mon Ron - keep the faith!

Folks,

feel free to report the threads in question (or PM us their details) and we'll get our collective might  together and attempt to sort things out.

Just a little whimsy is all. I have all the faith in the world in you lot! Go forth and moderate.

The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

Yippee!

Off we go to moderate.

Thanks Ron, made me laugh!

Okay, we got the message. We're working the problem(s) and now I think this thread has done its job.
