November 21, 201213 yr Hello everyone, Planning to do a round the world NGX flight. So far I have come up with the following legs. However I am struggling with the PHNL-RJAA leg as I don't think that is doable with the NGX range. Any ideas on how to cross the pacific? November 21, 201213 yr You probably need to fly via Alaska rather than Hawaii. If you want to fly via Hawaii then you probably need to land somewhere in the pacific, perhaps Wake island and / or Guam vatsim s3
November 21, 201213 yr This any good for you http://www.worldflight.com.au/operations/downloads.php Just recently done. Denis B
November 22, 201213 yr You could even check out older world flights as each one is ok for the 737 as a couple of teams use 737 sims for it. But it's done over 48 legs with a average leg being about 3 hours I would say from memory. Do a google search for the uk team simfest2012 it's a very good website and has links to all teams and had a good forum. And has videos about it and flight plans that you can download for the pmdg737 and open straight up without having to input the information of each waypoint in and stuf. Any more information you need let us know I could possibly email you them if needs be. Rob lambert
November 23, 201213 yr Here is direct RW the route for you: HNL.KEOLA2.NONNI..23N170W..25N180E..28N170E..32N160E..33N150E..MORAY.OTR15.SMOLT.Y815.KETAR.Y811.MELON.DAISY.NRT HNL..KEOLA..LILIA..25N163W..31N170W..33N180E..34N170E..32FIR..34N160E..MORAY.OTR15.SMOLT.Y815.KETAR.Y811.MELON.DAISY.NRT (I have more if you need) I doubt you will be able to make it work. We operate 767/777/747 for that city pair. I ran test flight plan it is too far even for 757 (barely works). What you can do is cross via Hopper islands (PKMJ, PKWA) or Guam (which is better). We flight same way every day on 738/9/ER Routes: LAX.PRCH9.DINTY.R576.DRAYK..DENNS.MAGGI3.HNL (180 ETOPS alternates we use: KSFO (KLAX) and PHTO) or SFO.SFO9.SFO..ALCOA.R463.ADTIL..140W..3226N..AUNTI.R463.APACK.MAGGI3.HNL (same ETOPS ) next leg (usually 757 leg, bu twill be able to cross that way): HNL.OPIHI2.OPIHI..CHOKO..17N170W..15N176W..13N179W.. 10N176E..08N173E..MAJ HNL.OPIHI2.OPIHI..CHOKO.R584.MAZZA..MAJ HNL.KEOLA2.NONNI..19N170W..20N180E..16N170E..15N160E..15N150E..DEWSS.A450.HOPPY..GUM (757 route). and then: MAJ..10N170E..15N166E..20N162E..21N160E..28N150E..TONIK.G223.ADKAK.Y819.CATCH.Y815.KETAR.Y811.MELON.DAISY.NRT GUM..TEEDE.A337.DAGDA.G223.ADKAK.Y819.CATCH.Y815.KETAR.Y811.MELON.DAISY.NRT GUM..21N..25N..30N..FIX..SUNNS.OTR20.CVC..NRE..NRT Will this work? November 23, 201213 yr I just tried loading PHNL-RJAA in the FMC (-800, max fuel, zero payload, as2012 real weather) using the route speedbird posted. It gave me an estimate of ~2,800 lbs of fuel remaining so It's the absolute max you could probably get out of it. If you don't make it into Narita the first time you're basically stuffed. If you were to try it nonstop I'd probably use either the -700 (if you have it) or go eastbound from Japan. However if you don't mind a stop Midway Atoll (PMDY) is conveniently located around a third of the way with minimal deviation of the gc route. they have a nice 7,800' runway too. At 2,185 nm Midway - Narita is easily doable. The other long leg Heathrow-JFK shouldn't be a problem (if you're using a -800 you might need to go empty). I've comfortably done EGKK-CYHZ in the past using -700 with 110 Pax+Bags and real weather. I'm also preparing a NGX RTW tour. My proposed routing is Brisbane (YBBN) - Darwin (YPDN) - Singapore (WSSS) - Kolkata (VECC) - Kandahar (OAKN) - Baku (UBBB) - Bucharest (LROP) - Oslo (ENGM) - Reykjavik (BIKF) - Goose Bay (CYYR) - Toronto (CYYZ) - Omaha (KOMA) - Los Angeles (KLAX) - Honolulu (PHNL) - Majuro (PKMJ) - Honiara (AGGH) - Brisbane (YBBN) Jason Carruthers
November 23, 201213 yr I did a similar flight some time ago. RJAA - PHNL is easily doable if you travel west to east. The winds aloft often give you a tailwind of 120 knots or more. Dennis Trawick Screen Shot Forum Rules
