PFPX, EFB & PMDG, how is your setup?

For me basically Scenery is managed through a 3rd party program And I'll only activate relevant the scenery for my flight. AS16+ASCA does my Wx, PFPX+TOPCAT for flight planning and t/o perf. Navdata is taken care of by Navigraph with Google calendar reminders letting me know when the AIRAC cycle needs updating. With my VA base being so far north (ENGM) It takes 15 minutes to align the IRS in the 737-800 I use this time for planning in PFPX and fetching departure plates. I have a single monitor setup so keep that for FSX, export the OFP to my phone and view charts on my tablet with the Navigraph Android app which now has a moving map function. I have looked at Aivlasoft EFB. But Idon't see any benefit from it that I don't already have especially on a single monitor setup were I'd have to constantly flip between windows.

    Long Hauling the new 400

So far I've taken the 74 on more longhauls than shorthaul which is unusual for me. One off the first things I did was take it on a RTW routing YMML-NZAA-KLAX-EGLL-VHHX-YMML (all realtime). I also just did CYVR-RJAA (4x compression) now I'm taking a little break from doing and I'm in the T7 doing RJAA-YSSY realtime. All offline for me at the moment.. I can't forward ports on my current router and I'm not going to stuff around being a /T/ only pilot.

[POLL] What do you think PMDG will do next?

I think they'll do a NGX update next (but not MAX models). Hopefully a new expansion pack including the 700ER/BBJ and -900ER models. Selfishly I'd like see detailed 747 classic simulation. I know it's unlikely that PMDG will do it. I'd also be happy with a 777 expansion pack with the earlier models. Saying that though I'm very happy with the 737NG/777 and now 744 combo by PMDG.
  4. Yes! Thank you so much for including this. I'm actually taking my new 747v3 on a welcoming rtw trip. currently in EGLL next flight was to recreate QF's nonstop EGLL-YSSY delivery flight but I'm seriously considering taking Landor on somewhere in Asia for the next leg now that it's available.
  5. My two most wanted. 1. British Airways "Landor" 2. Qantas "Delivery Scheme" (Ideally VH-OJA) Many Thanks

How short can a 777 land?

Not to mention Singapore Airlines just started flying their 777-200ERs into NZWN which only has a 1815 metre runway and is notorious for its windy landings. Granted it stops in YSCB both ways it's still quite impressive.

What's Your longest Flight in FSX

For a single session there are three canidates (on two I may have saved once en route but It was a while ago so I can't be sure) - Brisbane (YBBN) - Rarotonga (NCRG) PMDG 737-700 2,582 nm (This was definitely in one session - New York/JFK (KJFK) - Amsterdam (EHAM) PMDG MD-11 3,166 nm - Athens (LGAV) - Bangkok/Suvarnabhumi (VTBS) PMDG MD-11 4,287 nm Longest in a Classic Airliner - Bermuda (TXKF) - London/Gatwick (EGKK) Captain Sim 707-320B 2,998 nm Longest in Multi Sessions - Los Angeles (KLAX) - Alice Springs (YBAS) PMDG 777-200LR 7,032 nm. Was the second flight in the 777 I did after a short KPAE-KLAX hop Years ago in FS9 I did Toulouse (LFBO) - Noumea (NWWW) 9,306 nm in I think the Posky A340-200. I was trying to get to Auckland but got low on fuel so I diverted to Noumea. But for that flight I did use time compression.
  8. Whatever it is I'm buying straight away. Unfavourable exchange rates be damned. If it is turboprop I hope it's either an L.188 Electra or a Vanguard
  9. Yes, I wouldn't think twice about it
  10. Their VC looks a lot worse than even the default A321. Have a look at their A330 who knew the A330-200 had the same dimensions as the A330-300! For nearly 20 EUR thanks but no thanks I could buy a decent scenery for that. Now excuse me while I get back to loading my Aerosoft Airbus.

    Popular Routes

A couple of the Australian 737 flights I generally do are YBBN-YSSY YBBN-YBTL YSSY-YMML YMML-YPAD YPAD-YBAS These are are all 1-2 hour flights Flying for Virtual Norwegian I've discovered quite a few smaller airports in Norway I like to take the NGX into especially with FTX Norway. A couple of my favourites are: ENEV - Harstad/Narvik - In particular the scenic offset approach into Rwy 35 ENTC - Tromso - 4° Approach for both Rwy 01/19 ENML - Molde - scenic approach fjord on one side mountain on the other. A quick 30-40 minute flight from Oslo RIght now I'm taking Yananyi Dreaming (before it lost it's paintjob) on a RTW So far I've done YBBN-NZAA-NCRG-PLCH-PHNL-KLAX-KDFW-MHTG. with MHTG-MPTO-SPIM-SBEG-TTCP-TNCM-GVAC-DFFD-DTTA-LIPZ-LYBE-LTBA-OIIE-UTDD-UCFM-ZWWW-ZLXY-ZSPD-RPLL-AYPY-YBBN. I'm just waiting on buying scenery for Panama City, Lima and Tobago before I can leave Tegucigalpa. Kiritimati (PLCH) was an interesting approach. Turns out there are tall trees right before the threshold of Rwy 08 I ended up doing a St Barts style approach with a little harder than normal landing!
  12. I've taken old metal on the YBBN-YSSY route a number of times. Going south an easy but lazy way is tracking BN LAV TW SY which takes you a little to the west of the current H62/H12 route. If you want to follow H62/H12 exactly track BN LAV MSO/NDB from MSO/NDB I think it's outbound 190° until you hit inbound SY 160°. Another interesting route is YBAS-YPAD It's been a while since I've flown it but between I think Oodnadatta NDB (OOD) and Leigh Creek VOR (LEC) there's a small gap where you're out of range of radio navaids you basically fly a constant heading until you pick up LEC

    I Need 'Motivation' to Fly!

I'm doing this currently. I've only ever competed a RTW tour once before. It give you a chance to stop in at interesting places you wouldn't otherwise visit. On my current tour I've just passed through Kiritimati a tiny atoll halfway between Rarotonga and Hawaii. Once I get to europe I'm planning of taking a silk road routing to China with stops in Italy, Serbia, Turkey, Iran, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
  14. Generally SOP1 Because It flows nicely and I can't be bothered changing it most of the time. If I'm simulating a flight from that certain airline below the equator then I'll use SOP 2. I haven't tried SOP 3 yet but I did have a good look at it while I was doing a PDF checklist for all three. From what I saw of SOP 3 I didn't like it one bit. I might give it a try one day though.
  15. I had a look through all the usual channels and couldn't find anything. I'm pretty sure I had a RFDS repaint when I flew the Aeroworx B200 but can't remember where I got it. Closest I could find was an Air Ambulance NSW repaint http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=aansw.zip&CatID=fs2004acrp&Go=Search
