November 24, 201213 yr I just finished reading a book on the t7(in prep for the PMDG one) which I found very interesting and not to hard to understand. http://www.amazon.co...duckduckgo-d-20. It covered the principles of flight, basic navigation, weather and all the systems of the aircraft. It than takes you on a flight form LHR to BOS with a BA 777 explaining procedures, oceanic clearances and a whole load of other stuff. Cool - I've downloaded all the manuals from smartcockpit.com and have them on my iPad. I've watched hours of 777 DVD's the past year or so; I'm fairly confident to get in it and know it of the back of my hand. Just the general handling of the aircraft will take some getting used to :-) - Luke Pabari

November 25, 201213 yr Check out the breaking action on this landing. This is in my home country by the way :Peace:.
November 27, 201213 yr I love the first two images. The colors seem so bright and positive compared to those of Airbus cockpits, although the latter are beautifully professional and sleek in their own unique way.
November 27, 201213 yr The bus-ties will automatically close transferring the load to the right gen/electrical bus. Then you could fire up the APU before returning to your takeoff airport(if weather permits) or diverting to another suitable alternate. Yep my DC-9 had a generator go out but I simply had to close the bus tie myself and fired up the APU. Some SOP's allow for flying to your destination with the APU acting as the second sources of power but you may need to fly at a lower altitude depending on the APU design limits. If the APU quits as well then I'll consider diverting. Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
November 27, 201213 yr If the APU quits as well then I'll consider diverting. The original question I was responding to was: "But what if you have an engine out?" I don't think you would wait for the APU to fail aswell, before you divert if you have an engine out. "If you can't solve and equation with calculus, you're not using enough calculus" - A wise friend

Oh yea engine out I'll divert to the nearest airport that handles my airline and if things gets worse then the nearest suitable airfield. Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
November 27, 201213 yr The original question I was responding to was: "But what if you have an engine out?" Remember in the 777 the APU would start automatically regardless if the start switch's position, - Luke Pabari
November 27, 201213 yr Remember in the 777 the APU would start automatically regardless if the start switch's position, I was just clarifying a misunderstanding with Airbusman, he thought only the gen had failed, not the engine. November 28, 201213 yr If the Integrated Drive Generator fails the backup generator, driven directly from the engine gearbox, will connect to power the left electrical bus. Not quite; the left backup gnerator will only power the Transfer Buses, not the Left Main Bus. Jordan Forrest
