EVGA PercisionX FPS limiter = Smooth

Featured Replies

Trying this out with GTx690, FSX FPS set to unlimited, and so far looking very smooth. PercisionX fps locked @ 45. And conditions allowing it holds 45.

I know that under the hood its using the same FPS options provided by NVIDIA inspector, cause i can see it updates nv inspector, which means its the latest version of the nvidia fps limiter that seems to be working much better than last i tried it when the option first became available a while back.

Back then fsx stuttred more and the frame limit never worked on my system, but now much better.

I set this option from percisionX casue i use percision for gpu fan control / OC etc, but it has a slider for fps that works in real time, which makes it easy way to manage fsx fps.

So far quite impressed, remember to set fsx fps to unlimited to try this out.

current driver = 310.61.

As has been observed before external limiters are generally smoother than fsx limiter, but having another program do this eating cpu i always objected to. However in this case i think its the gpu doing the work of limiting fps which is win win for. My 690 is barely getting stressed so it can deal with extra work load.

Also anybody gona OC nvida card with this latest concept of boost clock etc, recomend use PercisionX rather than MSI afterbunner. Percision tuner presents a GUI based on the boost clock concept.

So another reason i justify to have percision open to limit FSX frames is already use it for GPU OC/ fan control

Interesting. I am trying it now and will report back.

I need to test this some more cause, it was reaching lower than usual FPS in heavy weather, but worked fine in normal not too heavy weather.

In same heavy weather FSX limiter gave better frames.

Or cold be cause of separate issue i am debugging at the moment.

So still testing this myself.

Tried it and went back to limiting FPS in FSX. Limiting within FSX was still smoother overall.

Precision combined with a beta may provide good results due to the fact that as a beta it is not yet locked down and being distributed as WHQL. There may be certain aspects of the driver that are causing better perf yet you must be aware that it may also wreak havoc on your GPU and could possibly cause it to shorten its lifespan.

Be careful with beta's.

In my experience it's just the opposite if you follow the Word Not Allowed Tuning Guide.

I have tried Bojote and ALL other tweaks and tricks in the forums, i always go back to the exact Word Not Allowed settings, for my hardware they are perfect.

With kind regards,

I've been using the FPS limiter on the driver for long, it has improved over time and now it's just a silk smooth ride along with the adaptive Vsync. It's amazing, never thought FSX could actually run at 60fps most of the time.

The issue is SLI, i hsve nvida 690, and 690 review here on AVSIM says Vsync should be off for SLI. Cause it causes micro stutters in SLI.

i have not tested this, but removed vsyn anyway, and based my settings partly on Word Not Allowed's and Avsim 690 Gpu review. SO i am sort of uusing both buides, cause Word Not Allowed's reaserch did not cover nvidia settings for SLI.

Once i fix few issues i am having currently will try out GPU limiter again

is it adaptive or standard ? I thought it was standard ? What is the difference btw ?

Thanks
