Plauged by CTDs

Hi Howard. Thanks for your input. I haven't hit a BEX error lately (sporadically in the past, though) I hope that the GPU isn't an issue but that's in interesting idea. And I do have a registered copy of FSUIPC. Right now I'm stuck on the single issue of CTD when loading from Free Flight at NIGHT only. This always gets an instant visualfx.dll failure.

Here is a shot of Edwards AFB taken around midnight.

Your sky should be darker but it could be your display card settings for your monitor that is causing the brightness. At night it should be dark.

Best regards,

Jim

I can re-check my setting in nvidia inspector but I think they're what is suggested in Word Not Allowed's guide.

Any idea what could cause a corruption with only the night textures? Everything else is fine.

FIXED THE ISSUE!

Jim, you were right about the issue being a texture associated with an .fx file. I copied the [main FSX]/Texture and [main FSX]/Scenery folders out of the main FSX location and placed them onto the desktop. I then ran the repair tool first for regular FSX then Acceleration. Then I merged/copied those folders of the desktop back into the main FSX location without replacing any files currently in there.

I reinstalled REX E+ Overdrive. Voila, everything is back to normal. No more CTDs.

I think the cause of this fiasco wasn't just one thing, it seemed to be a combination of errors. I believe I initally upgraded to REX E+ without reading the manual about the proper way to due so. Then, when I updated my overclock and began to edit my .cfg and editing the dll.xml and exe.xml, the night textures disappeared.

Just happy to be back in the air again.

That's really great news Anthony. Thanks for posting the solution as I'm sure it will help others with the visualfx.dll CTD.

Best regards,

Jim
