Is there a list of aircraft that can fit the RXP GNS 530?

Featured Replies

I've been thinking of purchasing one of the RXP GPS units (cannot afford both nor the unlimited pack). The 530 unit appeals to me because of the display size. Seems it would be harder to fit into many FSX GA aircraft VC because of this.

Is there a list of aircraft that are known to work with this particular unit? Couldn't find this on the Reality website, in the support forums or through a google search. Maybe others who use this unit could weigh in on those aircraft they've successfully incorporated this unit into both the VC as well as popup.

Thanks much.

I haven't seen a list as such, although if you look for aircraft that have a 530 modeled in it, then it is quite easy to change it over to the RXP version.

If you are looking at getting aircraft as well (and don't have them) then you can choose to use the RXP 530 in both the RealAir Dukes and their Legacy - in fact their integration is absolutely top notch with options for single GPS, multiple of the same unit, or a selection. Never used a popup in either of those as the VC is so good you don't really need it !!

It can work with pretty much any aircraft. I even have it for the PMDG 737NGX. Ha Ha! I know, I know,, But I don't fly the 737 using the G530... Mmmmmk! :) I have a cockpit and I have a window for the G530. So I don't want that to be empty..so the g30w is visible and I usually set it to terrain mode for the eye candy.

The thing is, which aircraft Autopilot can be coupled with the G530 is the issue. Many of the GA aircraft Auto pilot can be coupled with the G530W to a large extent. And no you don't need the VC modified to make the Realty xp 530 to work.. You can simply add the Reality Xp G530 to an aicraft using the setup tool of Realityxp. Then simply view instrument panel and undock the 530 window. Real air provides for a far more elegant way of fixing it to their VC... but most addons do not provide for this but it should not stop you using the G530W in a pop up window and shoot some RNAV approach in FPV mode, either using the Auto Pilot or just manually fly the plane with or without the Flight Director help if your GA aircraft has FD.

Hope that helps.

If you can narrow the types of aircraft down it would be easier to make a list. The Reality XP 530 is an excellent choice. It will work with almost any addon using a popup window and Reality will ad the necessary code for the windows.

I add it to almost all my addons. If you make the addon list then we can tell you how well or how difficult the Reality update will be.

Even those aircraft with the smaller footprint Gns430 model can be updated with a resized 530. It works just fine, just a little vertical squeeze. I use a 2nd monitor and keep the 530 up and running almost all the time.

I have added the GNS 530 natively and in the VC (no window pop up) to the Lancair Legacy, Aerosoft Katana 4X, and both Realair Dukes. All of them have an option to add it from the aircraft configuration. I'm sure the actual list is a lot longer.

You can get it on any aircraft using the window popup.

I also highly recommend it.

Thanks much for the replies so far. My ideal is having the unit incorporated into the VC panel AND coupled to the aircraft autopilot. The short list of aircraft I am interested in having this work in in addition to the RealAir Legacy are (all FSX):

1) Carenado C337

2) Default C172 (with RealAir FS9 upgrade)

3) Aerosoft Katana 4x

4) Aerosoft Beaver X and Twin Otter X

5) RealAir Scout

6) Carenado F33 Bonanza or A36 Bonanza

7) A2A Civilian Mustang

Experience with these specific addons? Any others that you've tried that work well?

The 337 Skymaster works OK but I think there is a small issue with 3d knobs. The Twin Otter will have to be a popup. I added an easy to use/read autopilot and GPS to this one and used click spots placed on the panel radios and GPS.

I have the F33 Bonanza and I think it works in it.

The default C172 uses a popup. The older Carenado 182Q model makes a great addon that will support the VC installed GNS530 and other modern upgrades and flies great - better than most. Search these forums for 'best 172 in FSX ' for some screenshots and discussion.

Don't have the others.

Argh I made a list a while back but can't find the post...

Off the top of my head these natively accept it (meaning it integrates into the panel with a config program)

RealAir Duke / Turbine Duke

RealAir Legacy

Aerosoft Katana 4x

Ant's P2002 Sierra

Carenado C337

Carenado T210

Carenado P46T Jetprop

Carenado C340

Baytower RV7

A lot of those also fit the 430W.

A few planes that only accept native 430:

Lotus L39

Carenado King Air 90

And a lot can accept either into the panel with an edit (I'm talking about in the VC, not a 2D popup you can do that with any plane)

Orbx Lancair IV-P - either

Eaglesoft SR22 - two 430's

Milviz C310R - either

Milviz Baron B55 - either

Older Carenado models (seneca, arrow, warrior, cessna etc) - depends on the model

Flight1 PC12 - 430's
