August 15, 201312 yr I think you have ticked Land Detail Textures in your Dx10 Display\Scenery settings and not in your Dx9 settings. Regards, Nick. Hi Nick, thanks for the hint but untick this parameter makes it look more ugly (blur). It was ticked also in DX9 because of the same cfg-file. Spirit
September 3, 201312 yr My experience with KHQM at DX10 is a bit different. Running the DX10 mode at KHQM makes the runway look like a grass texture. Have a look at the screen shot. In DX9 the runway is fine. Thanks Spirit @all Well, now I got this thing fixed. The KHQM runway didn't bother me so much but noticing a few days ago that many (all?) runways of standard airports were only grass and no concrete etc. let me begin to dig again for the reason of this. To make it short all my efforts with scenery, textures, shades, directx drivers didn't solve the problem. Even a repair of FSX Acc didn't help. So I uninstalled FSX Acc, repaired FSX, installed FSX SP1 and Acc. Voila - then it worked again. No grass runways where there should be concrete and KHQM looks pretty nice again. Only minor reinstall of shade etc. were needed all the main things remained untouched. Maybe it may help somebody with similar problems. Spirit

September 5, 201312 yr @Paul J. I guess that I accidentally came much closer to the reason of the runway problem at KHQM and standard airports. Well, I did a tutorial helicopter flight to get trained with hoisting stuff. I had to notice that the runway etc. was badly flickering. Of course, after the repair of my FSX Steve's shader patch was gone too. There was no general10.fx.ORIG file in the shaderHLSL/general folder so I took an original file which I had on my laptop. After this I ran setup.bat and fired up FSX. By the way, again there was no general10.fx.ORIG generated! In FSX at KHQM I saw again the bad runway and grass at standard airports! Back again with the original general10.fx file and in FSX the runways at KHQM and standard airports were ok. Run Steve's patch and the runways were bad again. Well, because of the non existing ORIG-file I thought that the patch might be corrupted in some way. I download the patch again and the whole shaderHLSL stock folder from the forum here to replace my shader folder.. I ran the patch procedures and now the runways are fine again and the general10.fx.ORIG was created this time. My guess is now that either the patch 3.2.2 on my my PC was corrupted or it is not enough to only replace the general10.fx file and run the rebuild bat-file. I got another lesson in understanding FSX. Spirit
September 5, 201312 yr  Don't feel bad! Been there - have the tee-shirt! My guess is now that either the patch 3.2.2 on my my PC was corrupted or it is not enough to only replace the general10.fx file and run the rebuild bat-file. I think that - if the patch installer sees a patched file inside the HLSL folder - it won't replace it, Spirit, and so you will get the results you did. It also may or may not delete the Shaders10 cache folder, either. (I don't trust it to do that, so I do it myself). When reinstalling any of these patches, I make a habit of deleting the old ShadersHLDL folder first, and replace it with the stock folder, then I delete the cache folder - then run the patch. It won't find a cache folder, so it doesn't have to delete it, and it then just continues to replace the necessary files in the ShadersHLSL folder, and then you're good to go. Here's the proceedure to follow:- Before installing the patch, in your case you needed to begin with a stock HLSL folder, from here, then delete the Shaders10 cache folder, which is at:- C:\Users\{your user name here}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\ There will be two folders - Shaders and Shaders10. The Shaders folder contains the cached copies of DX9 shader code, with the Shaders10 containing the DX10 code. If the Shaders10 folder is not there, it means you haven't started the sim with DX10 Preview selected. So - once you have the new default ShadersHLSL folder installed, and the Shaders10 folder deleted - start FSX to the spinning aircraft, and select "Settings",--> "Customize", and put a tick in the Preview DirectX 10 box. It will then request you re-start the sim, so go ahead and do this. You will then be using DX10, and you will have a Shaders10 folder in the cache area. Once you get to the spinning aircraft, shut the sim down and only then - install Steve's patch. Anyway - that's the way it's done to be successful! ..and I'm glad it's up and running for you! - Don't forget - most of us - including me - have messed this up before - even when Bojote was researching Shaders v3.0 in DX9. We had all kinds of strange-looking aircraft - I even re-installed FSX once, because of this.
