ATC replacement advice

Featured Replies

Hi All, I'm looking for a simple replacement of the default FSX ATC with something that has improved voices & accents. I don't need / want voice control, flight plan management or live online ATC. Many thanks.

It looks like you're looking for replacement sound files, not a replacement ATC. I haven't seen anything about that lately.

Perhaps some kind soul knows what is available.

I don't own the product but if you're looking for varying accents in different parts of the world, I hear ProFlight Emulator does that. Like I said, I don't have any first hand experience with it, but there are a few videos on youtube I'm sure. As with most third party ATC addons though, I'm pretty sure it's IFR only.

Thanks very much for the really quick replies - much appreciated! I have been doing some searching around and Pro Flight Emulator seems to fit the bill, however I believe it requires the creation of flight plans and doesn't replace voices for AI traffic (?). Can anyone please clarify?

Hello

All of the replacement ATC programs require the creation of flight plans, How else would they determine where you are flying from/to and direct you accordingly ?

PFE's voices include ATC and Ai voices

How else would they determine where you are flying from/to and direct you accordingly ?

The same way the default ATC does? I don't use flight plans and still have ATC services, like flight following, taxi clearance, and takeoff and landing clearance.

Hello

Neither Radar Contact or PFE will even connect to FSX without a plan loaded.

So which ATC addons are you using that allow ATC services without a flight plan ?, I have tested both PFE and Radar Contact this morning after reading your post just confirm that I was not in fact going senile and just as I thought, neither would connect to FSX until a plan was loaded.

I cannot be bothered at the moment to re install VoxATC but if I remember correctly that one relies on a saved flight situation.

Anyway now the experts have arrived in the thread I am out of here

That's exactly all I need the ATC for on my VFR flights (or when I'm sitting around planespotting!).

And thanks for clarification on the capabilities of the programs MadDog.
