December 14, 201213 yr Stephen; maybe I haven't been reading the right parts of flightsim sites, or you have been off-line awhile. But welcome back, or possibly belated congratulations to me for finally getting it right. You must be thrilled that Orbx has the Maritimes and the US northeast on their list. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
December 14, 201213 yr Hi Larry and all, isn't a bit futile to speculate on what LM might or might not do. I did a rough calculation and I reckon I have around 4000 days to live, max. If LM persists with P3D and all its successors then fine; if X-Plane rules then fine too. But right at the moment I am enjoying P3D v1.4, I am sure I will continue to do so with any further updates, and if an Academic licence is available for v2, I will happily pay and use up some more of the 4000. And with add-ons of the quality of the two NGX, the Majestic Software Dash 8, and three quality Airbus and a T7 to come then I will be happy for a long time to come. As well as the fun VFR flying in and around mountains, into bush strips, much of it in my beloved NZ. And bless me all the new scenery that Orbx, Aerosoft and others are bringing out creates my only problem. When should I upgrade my SSD! Que sera, sera (to be maudlin and fatalistic in the best sense of the word). KInd regards, Ian McPhail
December 15, 201213 yr Based on the lack of information from LM about version 2.0, I'd hazard a guess that it'll be sprung on us rather unsuspectingly. I'd say sometime in the new year between Spring and Autumn for version 2.0. If version 1.5 becomes available, I'd be surprised. If it does, I would say it will be the last before 2.0. My estimate is purely speculative but like I said......I wouldn't be surprised It seems in the world of flightsim, it's all about the element of surprise amongst publishers!!
December 15, 201213 yr Hi Larry and all, isn't a bit futile to speculate on what LM might or might not do. I don't expect them to pull it off the market, if that's what you mean. I'm just saying that consumer sales isn't their profit center for P3D. 4000 days... I've been in minus days for about that length of time after surviving an operation that 90% of people don't. I quit worrying about the future and enjoy what I've got now. "I will not mock God by refusing to enjoy the extra time I've been given." At least it fixed the problem, but the warranty ran out last year some time. Hopefully the next bypass operation won't be during a heart attack. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
December 15, 201213 yr Hey Larry: I was nearly carried off this mortal coil way back in 1964 with a violent heart infection. A few years later I had a valve replacement, and the good old ball in a cage clacks on. This is not for sympathy as all it cost me was flying (back in those days automatic loss of the medical occurred). I have had until I recently retired, a rewarding career for which I am most grateful. Now I can be a grumpy old man in the flight sim world, and argue with all you GOM. But keep well and keep those arteries flowing. KInd regards, Ian McPhail
December 15, 201213 yr I was nearly carried off this mortal coil way back in 1964 It changes your outlook, doesn't it? Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
December 15, 201213 yr It sure does, so I don't mind the odd discussion about whether this is better than that, but after a time I would just hope that people would take their own decisions and go and enjoy their hobby. Of course I am right about P3D!!! KInd regards, Ian McPhail
