Prepar3D 2.0 repurchase the product?

Featured Replies

requiring a folder by folder uninstall of the previous version, and a fresh installation of the upgrade and your miles of add-on scenery and aircraft and weather and traffic

I suspect that's a downside of P3D being primarily aimed on the commercial market. Its commercial customers will have IT departments to do this and will want to ensure consistency and compatibilty between their multiple installations/licences.

Thanks guys for the helping hand. Unless P3D have made a breakthrough to v2.0 I believe .. I guess.. I feel confident ...I am sure .. that the next version will be an UPGRADE to 1.5.

But only LM knows so ask them on their site.

KInd regards,

He He....don't forget about buying new addons to take full advantage of DX11 unless 3PD give you free patches for all of your existing one....I'm surprise nobody asked them yet...

Yes, oh yes. I can't see Aerosoft and BBS changing their present development trajectory to include DX11 - or sufficient notice would have to be given so that some of the present range of products could be reworked so version 2.0 might have to be later rather than sooner .... on the other hand maybe Orbx, Carenado, Aerosoft and others are already working on some of the early versions of P3D 2.0!

Then there is the problem of the EULA dispute, with developers like PMDG saying that they develop for FSX and nothing else. So some really outstanding add-ons might need some unofficial work with all that might mean or threaten.

The future I hope is the hour before dawn not a black void, because we can only predict but never know. Roll on next year!

I actually would be fine if 1.4 was all we got. I could live with that :)

There are so many add on developers joining and supporting p3d now I don't see the EULA being a problem else they would not even bother with time and effort to support it. Funny thing is all the add ons now r for entertainment because they were originally for fsx. Only a matter of time to get that worked out for the rest. LM themselves is encouraging add on development.

The point I was making was that all the forums are hung up on v2.0 whereas LM has not made any statement as such. So next update must be 1.5 or 1.6 or 7 if there is significant patches. If dx11 is now worked in I'm sure the devs would love to work with a newer direct x for its increased abilities. I can't wait for next update. Exciting times providing LM is committed.

Last I heard, LM hired PMDG for their public relations/marketing department. So PMDG will be in charge of making any announcements regarding release dates.

Where did you hear that??? PMDG was and has been against P3D all along. That doesnt make much sense. PMDG would have to support P3D with their products b4 they do such an undertaking I would think. Doesnt make business sense otherwise.

How can you make an announcment regarding a new P3d release but oh by the way, any pmdg product is not allowed to be installed or supported officially.

Dave, I was being sarcastic. We know how mum PMDG is when it comes to making announcements on release dates, so I was just trying to say that LM would be as mum as PMDG is when making any announcement about P3D 2.0's release date.
