Google earth following flight aplication

Featured Replies

Is there any aplication which allows to follow your flight over Google Earth or Google Map ?

I have a couple that only records flights in Google Earth format, but I want following in real time.-

Thanks

PLAN - G lets you see your flight over a Google Map overlay - although you need version 2 to do that. FS Commander will also port your route and current position over to Google Earth, which you can then find add-ins to use the various maps / terrain mapping as well as Satellite.

I use both, although FSCommander works better for me !!

How do you get FSc to show google earth maps

How do you get FSc to show google earth maps

I found a few different overlays you can use googling "Google Earth" and "Terrain map". Some have Bing/Yahoo mapping on as well.

Some seem to work better than others..... (not at my machine at the moment, so can't say which ones I am using) ...

Edit: just re-read your post, they don't appear in FSC but Google Earth. When you save a Flightplan tick Google Earth and it will ask if you want to load it into Earth.

Then when you link FSC to FSX there is an option in the same menu to Show Position in Google Earth....

The earlier part let's you view other mapping other than Satellite in GE.

FSC indeed allows to save a flightplan to Google Earth but stores it on its database.- ( I dont know how to import it from Google Earth) When connecting FSC to FSX I cannot find an option to show position in Google Earth.- I am using FSC V 921 which is the later.-

If you have fsuipc registered, you don't actually need too much more to make it work, just a virtual serial port system to connect GPSOUT from FSUIPC to Google Earth's native GPS following ability.

Just choose Tools>GPS select 'realtime', modify the update frequency to something like 2-3 seconds, and hit start...

In mine, that option exists but is greyed out, perhaps early versions had it active as happened with Plan G

I use the registered FSUIPC and did what you suggested, but it doesnt work for me, the Google Earth applet informs "reading USB" but nothing happens.- Should something must be configured at FSUIPC ? Thanks

I can get google earth to show flight plan by loading KML from FSC.

But option to show a/c postion in google earth from FSC is greyed out

Is there a way to make GE stop zooming in and out constantly while following my flight from FSC?

Also, while following, it seems that GE doesnt focus on my aircraft, but at a point a mile or so north of the plane. It does move along as my aircraft travels, but my aircraft icon is out of view in GE. Seems like a resolution issue perhaps?

By chance option to show a/c position in google earth no longer greyed out, after leaving google earth open and setting correct path, then restart fsc.

But cant seem to work out how to gt google earth to auto follow a/c position, seems to just move off screen

You are right, doing what you suggested and using the Google Earth GPS tool, it shows and follows the aircraft position, but the map doesnt move accordingly.- Somebody knows if is a fix to it ?

Do you happen to own an iPad? There is a neat Map HD app that sounds like just what you are looking for. It uses Apple maps but they are super sharp where I fly and it looks to me like they are using Google maps. At least in some parts fo the world.
