Tom Kyler.... X-Plane tech support pointed me in your direction.... and I am the newest NEWBI on this forum.... So much so I have no idea of how to post new question(s). I will cut and paste my e-mail request to X-Plane regarding the KingAir C90B. Since you are going to, or are in the process of doing some refining of the C-90 Panel maybe you could help out with some or all of the items I've listed. What ever you can do I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Ron

Hi Randy....

I've been flying X-Planes C-90 - Tail Number 43XS using X-Plane 10 in the 64 bit version.... It is very nice. Who at X-Plane could I e-mail regarding having a few things added to the instrument panel? I know it's in 3-D and I have no way, or at least I believe I have no way of adding things.

Things I would like to see added to the planes Instruments would make it even more realistic. They are:

1) Tail Number ID tag.

2) OAT gage digital or analog

3) Marker Lights for: OM MM IM

4) Ice Detect Annunciator light

5) Ice Detect ON/OFF Switch

6) HUD Display Dimmer Control

7) Back Lit Buttons for Auto Pilot & FMS (kind of hard to find what you need in the dark)

8) Altitude Select on Instrument Panel could use back lighting.

9) Thrust/Prop Reverse Annunciator light

I'll be happy to talk with who ever builds your planes about this if you let me know. If these items can not be taken care, just let me know please.

Thank you,

Ron Burden

Hello Ron, thank you for the input! I think most of those are doable. I'll work on squeezing those in.

The C-90 was already my preferred default aircraft in X-Plane10 :-)

Looking fwd for the nest beta :-)

Thanks Tom.... I look forward to flying the C-90 even more. Beautiful rendition of the real aircraft!

Ron, in my panel reference, I can't say as I see an indicator light for reverse....am I missing it? I agree it is handy regardless...my only real concern is that I put one on the panel in the wrong spot / style because I'm missing it.. If one doesn't exist, I can then take some leeway in where I put it and make it look nice.

RE: The HUD dimmer...are you refering to the EFIS screens? If so, those are connected to the overhead dimmer labled, "Pilot gyro instruments"

Tail Number plaque / OAT / Marker Lights, backlit ALTSEL are all in as well as some other general clean up stuff. I just need to put in the ice indicators on the dash annunciators and the backlit AP stuff.

OAT should be at the pilot's left elbow position. It is in the FSX version.

Tom,

Having found the landing/taxi lights on the C90 (thanks to you), I tried a night landing and discovered that they do not project any light onto the runway/taxiway. Is this something that could be worked out as well? Obviously most of my flying had been done during daylight hours and I tried other aircraft to make sure I was not asking for something that was not done with them. They (at least the ones I tried) work and I am hoping that the C90 can too.

Thanks to you, the C90 is turning out to be the "showcase" aircraft for XPX.

Thanks,

John

I also came across that today during my testing John and that's been corrected for the next release. The lights do project onto the runway with HDR rendering turned on...but of course that takes a bit of a performance hit. My machine isn't terribly new and I tend to run without HDR on myself.

TomK

Tom,

Your dedication continues to amaze me. I also do not use HDR, although I can - with a hit.

Thanks,

Tom.... you are correct regarding Reverse Thrust, no indicator light exists...... just my personal preference. Regarding the HUD Display, real plane did not have one.... However, I can use an HUD provided by X-Plane... I just need a way of dimming it. Thanks Tom.... and every one else who has equipment knowledge regarding the C-90. It's been a really long time since I've been in the real cockpit so I am sure I am adding one or two things I would just like.

Thanks again,

Ron

Hi Ron,

There is a HUD brightness toggle feature that you can assign a key to. Under Settings --> Joystick & Equipment --> Buttons: Adv tab, find HUD in the list. Alternatively, the tilde key ( ` ) is set to that by default. Unfortunately, there are only two settings-- bright & dim, but maybe it's something that could be embellished in a future update.

What do you think, Tom? Is it possible to tweak the full screen hud to give a larger range of brightness, and perhaps color options?

I really haven't looked into it, I rarely use it myself, but I will ask 'up the chain' and see if their are other options.

Great, thanks! If you've ever played Falcon 4, something like it's HUD color/brightness options would be pretty cool.
