February 21, 201313 yr In the C90 it can be tricky because there is a very basic GPS allowing for the selection of a station or fix as your next waypoint (the one to go direct to), which get's copied into the FMS on the console, and becomes waypoint #1. I prefer to set my waypoints all through the FMS, and they will then sync with the basic GPS as the route gets followed. February 21, 201313 yr Jcomm.... I agree with you regarding setting all your waypoints through the FMS, much cleaner. Now I would like to find out 'why' the VNAV quit working... It worked fine up until the last A/C update.
February 21, 201313 yr Hmmm, yes, I tried it too, and it didn't work. Probably Tom inhibited it to make the FMS a bit more "realistic" for the C90... February 21, 201313 yr I think I found the problem...... Me! While I thought I had turned off everything, I had not turned off the FD and it was apparently holding information from the previous flight. I really appreciate all the efforts made by those on this forum to try and help me through my learning experience. I'm getting too old to learn new tricks. John John Wingold
February 22, 201313 yr I had not turned off the FD and it was apparently holding information from the previous flight. And... of course this is not really YOUR PROBLEM, but rather the weird way the AP / FD are interconnected and represented in default X-Planes.... It's weird, an in some aspects, far from RL... February 25, 201313 yr Tom, Thank you for fixing the door and a few other things in the C90. I cannot, however, find the parking brake release. Please tell this old timer where it is. Thanks, John John Wingold
February 26, 201313 yr Tom... if all else fails... hit your 'B' key to release the parking brakes. Ron
February 26, 201313 yr Yes, I know Ron. It's just that I would like to see something that tells me it is released in case I hit the "B" key while flying. Not critical, just picky. John John Wingold
March 3, 201313 yr I use 10.20 rc2. The autopilot ALT function does not seem to work here. My destination is ETNS nav source is GPS. Autopilot is in LOC and ALT Mode, AP ON and YAW ON are active, But my plane keeps rising. My ALT is set to 06790 on the Front Panel and 0000 in the FMC. What is the problem here? Is this a bug? Btw. the front audio panel is static, maybe these buttons can be enabled in a later release? Futhermore it would be cool to have to cabin light buttons working as well.
March 4, 201313 yr I've just made a flight and the AP seemed OK. Maybe you forgot to use the ARM button. Try this procedure: first you set the altitude on the ALT SELECT dial, then you must press the ARM button (right of the ALT button). Both ALT and ARM will become red lighted. Then you command the vertical speed using the UP or DOWN buttons. The AP will automatically ALT HOLD at the target altitude. I use 10.20 rc2. The autopilot ALT function does not seem to work here. March 4, 201313 yr This is my AP departure procedure in the KingAir. Is it the best sequence? 1. On the runway: AP is off. 2. I set the initial target altitude (ALT SELECT), AP heading (on HSI) and trim the aircraft nose up for takeoff. 3. Takeoff. 4. Manually trim the aircraft to hold the apropriate vertical speed. 5. AP on. 6. YD on. 7. VS on. 8. HDG on. 9. ARM on.
March 5, 201313 yr Good morning Tom.... Any possibility you could activate one or more of the 'COM/NAV' switches so you can listen to the Nav station identifier and turn it off after doing so? Thanks, Ron
March 5, 201313 yr Hey Ron, yea, I should have done that. I'll add it as soon as I can. JOHN: I'll get that thing in there at some point. How it coincides with XPs release schedule I'm not sure. I have my hands in a few other Laminar pots but that "todo" for the lever is on my list. TomK
