August 13, 200421 yr Why do you need time zones if you fly an airplane ?Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
August 14, 200421 yr Hello, For those asking: Try doing a search of the libraries here under FS Reliability. Handy, an extremely inexpensive little program that adds a touch of realism to the overall experience. Author is Mark Schilberg. You can try it for free for a limited time. I have tried other programs that more or less do the same thing, I enjoy this entirely. John Haley
August 14, 200421 yr Not kidding, don't sound so surprised. That's, in part, why this program exists. Check out the FS Time Group on Yahoo if you don't believe it. Its SIMULATION, to each their own.John
August 14, 200421 yr Michael,I know you were kidding with that question. FS Real Time takes away the FS problem of know the correct time when fly for example from Los Angels to Tokyo. The time is correct in Tokyo, not some one hour drift. FS Real Time makes sure that all locations are correct to UTC. I don't know know if poeple really don't know that there are some huge errors in time zones in FS.Bob
August 14, 200421 yr >You're kidding right? No, I am not. Real life flying is done according to the UTC time. When you land you figure out what time zone you are in - this way you know if fast food restaurants are still open or not ;-)Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
August 14, 200421 yr >really don't know that there are some huge errors in time>zones in FS.>and why would you care about time zones while flying trans-pacific/atlantic routes ? Real pilots don't. They care when they land because they have to announce to passengers what the local time is. But you don't need FS to tell you this....Michael J. Michael J.
August 14, 200421 yr The problem is that when you cross a timezone in MSFS, MSFS actually changes the UTC time rather than recognising this as a local time change! So when you're crossing the Pacific, MSFS keeps changing UTC such that your arrival UTC is hours different to what was planned.FS Real Time keeps the MSFS UTC in sync with actual UTC. August 14, 200421 yr >FS Real Time keeps the MSFS UTC in sync with actual UTC.OK, now it does finally make sense. :-)Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
August 14, 200421 yr Not exactly. When FS cross a time zone with wrong Local to UTC relation sometimes it jumps the UTC and not the local. I'm not using FSRealtime however by simply installing TZ30.zip the UTC jumps are solved (at least all the places that I know that have the problem), the delay between FS and system time could be solved by FSrealtime or the FSUIPC keep time sync option. The delay is variable from user to user.Jos
August 14, 200421 yr I'll check out TZ30.zip - I still get the jumps and associated texture/traffic reloads crossing timezones using FS Real Time - especially on longer transoceanic flights and in Australia, but FS Real Time immediately readjusts the time back to the time before the jump, (I think I make sense?!).Cheers,Bryn. August 14, 200421 yr I have now received this tip from the developer and so far seems to work: - run FS Real Time without starting the AutoUpdate process, then click Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
August 14, 200421 yr That's correct there are several places that I know that trigger jumps:- Just North of Sydney;- Crossing Azores (from the Central group to Western group);- During the descend from PANC to Japan (during the Russian airspace);- from Madeira/Canarias to Mainland Europe;During the FSAcars 2 I programmed a jump prevent function but never could prevent the scenery reloading so gave up and just take the problem in to account if it happens. After installing TZ30 the jumps went away. Since I'm 90% RfP user in UPS and Globe Cargo it was a very annoying and frequent to get the jumps since the flights cross remote destinations.Another thing: Ultimate traffic installs TZ2 that was for FS2002 check if you have it and uninstal it. RegradsJos
August 14, 200421 yr And that's the reason why I use TZ30. To solve the UTC time jumps which causes a reload of textures, scenery, etc. Very annoying.Michael, I can't believe that you never knew about the timezone bug present in FS2002 and FS2004. FSRealtime and TZ30 fixes those bugs. Actually, I only use TZ30. But if you install FSRealtime, it automatically installs TZ30 as well.
