KVNY Van Nuys Scenery?

Featured Replies

Van Nuys is my home base. I am anxiously awaiting an Aerosoft version too. There is another freeware developer with a very good track record who is also working on a VNY . In the meantime John B. Loney has a pretty good version with actual signage for the major FBO's (at least circa 2007)

Have a screenshot? My home airport has been KSNA for years...maybe a 20 minute flight. I never flew into it until today. Certainly a great jump off point for a single over to KSBA and I seem to be trying to edge further north. I can't say I really care for any of the MegasceneryX airport renditions...a bit too blocky and generic. I like the rest of it though and their ground resolution is as good as it gets.

I think they're just default FSX with some relocation (and perhaps custom flattens) done to match their photo and mesh, aren't they?

I can't see what your scenery looks like, Ryan, but I parked myself on VNY Rwy 34 and took this shot of MegasceneryX Socal's rendition.

Yeah they changed the runway texture and probably some signage... which is all I did with some other minor things..

In FSX default there's taxiways called "F1" and "G1" etc etc... I've just changed them to read what's on the AFD.

One Six Right....love that Documentary. Have it on my ipad, probably watch it 3 or 4 times a year.

That documentary was awesome. Such a great thing to watch, i've seen it 2 or 3 times now :P

Van Nuys has turned from an airport built for purpose into an airport built for those who love the skies.... and still some purpose in there too haha

LOL...great vid. Brings back a lot of memories. Staring at the seat to my right thinking "holy crap" and, oddly, not having even the slightest bit of fear about it...just the realisation and then exhilaration and then just flying the plane. Wow. Nice memories.

I don't have a screenshot for John Loney's scenery. I am currently using US Cities X-LA and it uses a different mesh but Loney's is worth the download if you are using the default FSX VNY currently. It's quite detailed.
