January 27, 201313 yr You're always one mysterious tweak away from perfection, for one combination of goals, with FSX. But what I like is that you CAN customize it in such detail. It's like trimming your controls during flight, finesse and attention to detail are required. So true! Their always seems to be a fix. What that is depends on everyone's individual set up. So you have to plug away logically.
January 28, 201313 yr For Summer1: Sigh plz chk stngs pg fr scnry it sz scnry cmplxty kthxbye. Btw I discovered the perfect place to run my Carenado SR22 with max scenery complexity and very dense autogen: Florida. Next up? Texas! Then Arizona!
January 28, 201313 yr Sigh plz chk stngs pg fr scnry it sz scnry cmplxty kthxbye. LOL!! Next up? Texas! Then Arizona! Not much to see in west Texas except mesquite scattered everywhere. Pretty much like the real thing. East Texas isn't so bad; looks pretty good, actually. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
January 28, 201313 yr Loved West Texas when I visited it. Wide open, empty spaces, only the death-dealing bees at any water source along the highway to worry about. Best part of Texas, for me. . Plus, easy on my RAM....

January 28, 201313 yr Since reloading FSX and adding a few more goodies I have been constantly troubled with OOM,s after reducing everything to its barest minimum the only option left was to unload some of the stuff id only just brought. No... This could not be the only option left could it? From loading a flight and just sitting on the runway my VAS would start at 2.8 or higher depending on the weather. After take off it would creep up and during cruise it would stay in the 3+ region. After initialising the descent it would simply go higher and higher until finally the pings from FSUIPC would summon the end. What to do? Suddenly the light went on and I switched to DX10. What a difference. After a few well placed tweaks I could start my flight with only 1.6 VAS. This only creeps up to 1.8 during a test flight so lots of overhead. Maybe some of those sliders can now even move right! The last time I tried DX10 was with my old PC and it was not very stable with a three monitor setup so I abandoned it with my new card the results are very good and with the improvements to the shaders that Steve has done its a new experience. Still a lot to check and do but so far so good. If your running at the limits of VAS then it's nothing ventured nothing gained. So has to be worth a try. Tomorrow a proper long test flight so I have my fingers crossed.
January 29, 201313 yr Haha Word Not Allowed Doomed is exactly right. After getting FSX to a really good place yesterday ready for some testing, I switched on the PC this morning only to find that it had decided that was not going to be the plan for the day. To cut a long story short my 1 month old SSD drive decided to go walkabout. Took a little while to diagnose as the windows message was that I needed to do a full system restore??? Luckily I had backed everything up about a week ago but it's amazing how much stuff now needs to be reloaded. Computers eh! DX10 testing will have to be delayed as I must try and do some work how boring.
January 31, 201313 yr Just for the record... DX10 has eliminated my OOM's completely. This means I can load more stuff and move sliders to the right. So the 'end' has been suspended... ...for the time being.
January 31, 201313 yr I have a mental block when it comes to moving sliders to the left. NASCAR drivers should feel right at home though :Big Grin: And that is why you have OOM's.
January 31, 201313 yr Hey guys... how about we get an official AVSIM shrink? Now that is an idea. :lol: Haha he/she is gonna be very busy and extremely rich Bri
