My FSX has CTD's at times, graphics look terrible, etc. Please help!

When running FSX, have FScene X, TrackIR 5, PMDG 737 NGX, FS2Crew, RAASPro, and Opus running. Using freeware clouds and sky colors. Using registered FSUIPC and FSPS Xtreme FSX running. Have tried running Alacrity x64 to shut off all of the unncecessary services and bloatware. FSX runs ok, not stellar, but just looks like crap. Nothing to do can fix any issues. Have the typical DX10 flickers, but PMDG VC and airframe looks terrible in my opinion. No aftermarket airports in use.

 

Please look at this and give me our opinion on what I'm doing wrong. The sim systems work OK, but the 737 VC looks awful.

You are missing the line in the Graphics section

 

HIGHMEMFIX=1

 

This is needed for FSX to access greater then 512MB video memo, also make sure you use the latest version of FSUIPC, it helps with some forms of CTD's

Certainly a capable sounding computer you have there, really, you should have no issues at all.

Have you tried to manually update your FSX config file? There may possibly be some errors in that. If I were you, I would update Windows first, and especially check for new drivers for your video card.

 

Once this is done, I would delete the FSX config file and allow it to build a new one for you. The config file can be moody at the best of times. Also, how are you tweaking your graphics? From outside or within the sim?

 

Once you have done this, follow Word Not Allowed's guide on tweaking the sim (If you're happy to edit the config file).

 

A system such as yours should run the sim nicely.

Doesn't do FSX any harm at all, and makes things easier for me... Throw a blank line in between each section just so you can see them too... So much easier to read and edit it...

It's interesting iin that I used Word Not Allowed's guide and had the highmem fix in there. Where did it go?

I tried every tuning advice including Bojote, NickN, ........ i always returned to Word Not Allowed. For me there isn't any better.

The only liberty i take: is not using AffinityMask=14

With my system it looks after several tests, that i have even less microstutters in some scenarios when i let FSX make full use of the four cores of my i5 2500K at 4.3 Mhz.

 

But probably most people are better off with Affinity Mask use.

This was fixed. Check out our DX10 Forum for details on properly setting up your configs for DX10. Steve's Shader Fix 3.2.2. fixes a lot of anomalies in DX10. There are also sample fsx configs and NI configurations. Plus a lot of very helpful AVSIM members.

Well, it was worse, but now much better using Word Not Allowed's fixes on a fresh cfg file. Will sort out the DX10 issues next. Right now crash-free and running smoothly. Thanks for the assist.
