January 30, 201313 yr Hello everyone-- Well, I currently have FSX running great, with all of my add-ons. I'd like to make a copy of my hardddisk so if something happens I can get back to my current state. I don't really want to run in RAID mode as I don't want to slow things down by making a duplicate at all times. I also don't want to make a copy if I make a mistake. I'd like to be able to make an image when I choose and be able to re-load that if things go sour. What is the best way to do this? What software package? I have a 1 TB external drive that is networked to my PC. Thanks, --Don Don Polidori
January 30, 201313 yr I have done this with Norton Ghost and all went well. But that was about 6 years ago. Took a small HDD out of my computer and put a larger one in. After that everything ran exactly as before. Next I put the small HDD back in as a newly formatted slave. But this was Windows 98. Norton Ghost is supposed to do exactly what you want to do. Now you need to hear from anyone who has recent experience, e.g. the competing products. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
January 30, 201313 yr If your W7 is of the Pro or Ultimate variety the software is built in :- Control Panel/Backup and Restore/Create System Image. If on the other hand you have the W7 Home, you will need to get some software. Acronis True Image is highly thought of. Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...

February 1, 201313 yr Author Just wanted to thank you guys for taking the time to respond. I ended up going with Acronis True Image 2013. I especially liked the 250GB of cloud space that I wanted for storing photos. I ran a back-up as I left the house this morning, I'll see how it worked when I get home. --Don Don Polidori
