August 26, 200421 yr Hello Ken,I wanted to drop you a line to thank you for all your work in Flightsim autostartup program. My 1.8 Gig machine needs all the help it can get to fly smoothly. All seem well except I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out which services to keep running to allow for the flightsim to automatically update the weather from the internet every 15 minutes within the flightsim. I read your readme file and I have been studing the following websitehttp://www.blackviper.com/index.htmlprovided by Greg in this threading to understand what services do what but am not that computer savvy and so far have not had much luck. I do access the internet thru a Router. I will keep working on the list to see if I can find the right combination. Again, Thank You for your excellent program in making computer configuring easier for flightsimmingDave G
August 26, 200421 yr On my XP SP2 machine, these are the services I leave running with FSAutoStart:DCOM Server Process LauncherDHCP ClientDNS ClientEvent Log (can't stop this one anyway)Network ConnectionsPlug and PlayProtected StorageRemote Procedure Call (MUST leave this one running)Security Accounts ManagerSystem Restore ServiceWindows AudioWindows Management InstrumentationWireless Zero Configuration (I have a wireless NIC)WorkstationI terminate every program , including explorer.exe (the desktop). As always, these are my personal settings and may not work for anyone else.
August 26, 200421 yr One thing to note, with FSAutoStart, anything you shutdown using it is temporary. If your computer starts acting "funny", just reboot. Nothing permanent is ever written to your services or running programs.
