February 15, 201313 yr I just got an email with the topic heading Mesh Recall Lawsuit. I didn't open it but didn't delete it either as it seemed to be sim related. if it's a scam or malware, then it seems to be targeted against users of flight sim products. Does anyone know anything about this? Ian
February 15, 201313 yr Hi, I believe this is probably a type of phising scam aimed at people who had a synthetic surgical mesh implant. It's the same sort of thing as those class-action lawsuits against drug companies. A mailing list probably got hacked. I still wouldn't open it-just delete it. I get these too from time to time. Gary
February 15, 201313 yr Moderator If it's what I suspect, it concerns a company that creates and sells 3d model meshes, and a conflict with a developer/distributor who has allegedly not paid for their work. Since I don't have the email, that's just a guess based on something I've recently read elsewhere. Fr. February 15, 201313 yr I don't know anything about it Ian. But thanks for letting us all know. I searched around to see what it might be and found a bunch of medical lawsuit stuff. Including about KUGEL Hernia Mesh Recall and possible lawsuits to do with that. It could be what Bill says too - I think that would be the most convincing explanation.
February 15, 201313 yr Commercial Member Hernia Mesh for FS9 v1.0 Can't wait to see that uploaded. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
February 16, 201313 yr Author "Hernia mesh for FS9" ---- LOL - I saw the word "mesh" and the only thing that meant to me was FS mesh. Now I know it's just another phishing scam. Sorry for the false alarm but I just jumped to the conclusion that it was someone who was deliberately targeting FS users. I'm sure it was just another random "phishing" expedition. I very much hope that if there is such a thing as "hell, that there is a special room reserved for these kinds of people!!!!!
February 16, 201313 yr Didn't get it but thanks for the info. It's disturbing that the real world has stolen our FS vocabulary :-) Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
February 16, 201313 yr Didn't get it but thanks for the info. It's disturbing that the real world has stolen our FS vocabulary :-) mesh [mesh] noun 1.any knit, woven, or knotted fabric of open texture. 2.an interwoven or intertwined structure; network. 3.any arrangement of interlocking metal links or wires with evenly spaced, uniform small openings between, as used in jewelry or sieves. 4.one of the open spaces between the cords or ropes of a net. 5.meshes. a.the threads that bind such spaces. b.the means of catching or holding fast: to be caught in the meshes of the law. 6.Machinery . the engagement of gear teeth. 7.Electricity . a set of branches that forms a closed path in a network so that removal of a branch results in an open path. 8.Metallurgy . a designation of a given fineness of powder used in powder metallurgy in terms of the number of the finest screen through which almost all the particles will pass: This powder is 200 mesh. Who stole what? I don't see any mention of FS anywere.
February 16, 201313 yr Umm I used the :-) to indicate joke. A common habit on the internet ;-) Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
February 16, 201313 yr Probably something related to a mesh recall regarding the knitted mesh used for surgical. TV ads running on it. SPAM Also most malware these days comes from ads according to sometime seen in the news vs porn sites
February 16, 201313 yr Author Please let the thread die guys. It was clearly a phishing email which I normally would have deleted without a second thought. it was the word "mesh" that made me think it might have come from someone who had hacked an email list of FS hobbyists. That's why I wanted to give a warning. But it is not FS related at all so there's no point in adding anything to this thread. False alarm........
February 16, 201313 yr A class action over mesh? I'm sure I deserve recompense of some kind for that annoying plateau at my local airport...... John G.
