August 29, 200421 yr Way back in FS98 days, I had spent a load of money on airports, spent countless hours downloading aircraft, etc. Then came along FS2000 and once again I bought the scenery, and aircraft etc. When the release date was announced for FS2002 I wasn't excited about it. I didn't have the means to upgrade computer equipment at the time, and all the time tweaking the sim and downloading "stuff". So I skipped FS2002. I just flew FS2000 and enjoyed that just fine. There are countless people still flying FS2002 for the same reason your not going to buy FS2006. I own FS2004 now, and I am finally able to spend some time downloading/tweaking/purchasing. I know when the release date is announced for the next version, I will have mixed feelings. Just do what makes you happy. Cheers,Scott
August 29, 200421 yr it should be released around this time next year! The always released it about 3 or 4 months before the year advertised starts!
August 30, 200421 yr im going to purchase fs2006, 2008, 2010,2012 and i if i live long enough fs2million, im also going to buy some more goat cheese and chicken and some tomatoes and some crackers, just thought everyone should know this as well!ciao!Brian S}( Ciao!
August 30, 200421 yr I too have tweeaked FS9 to be a sim that I will hard to part with. However, I can not see staying in FS9 if there is a newer version available. One thing that I will do is keep FS9 on my machine if only to fly the viper. I spent most of my tweaking time messing around with all the effects and carrier stuff with that plane. Other than that as long as the next version allows stuff made for FS9 to work in it then I can't imagine spending more than a day moving over all the addons to the next version of FS.
August 30, 200421 yr FS9 brought some new stuff with it aircraft design wise, so now you're seeing addons that ONLY work in FS9.How long will you FS2002 hold outs last when you can't install any new addons?
August 30, 200421 yr Very well said jeff!:-cool If FS2006 will take full advantage of the new graphics power available, it will definitely blow our heads off!! The hardware does and will make alot of progress now and in the near future, so stakes are high that MS can take FS REALLY to the next level! Those people who think it can't get much better, just take a look outside your window! As long as FS doesn't look, perform and feel the same as the real world, it will go on! :-sun1 Long live MSFS!!:-sword:D I would even buy the next version if I couldn't use it on my computer, because I want FS to survive! I'll gladly drop 70 Bucks of my hard earned money to ensure that!cheers,:-beerchug Claudio :-term
August 31, 200421 yr Author I not necessarily think I will skip FS2006 but if they want to make an early sale they would have to include something spectacular.Currently I run Fs2004 with some occasional Fs2002 trips (PIC757, Dreamfleet 737 / Captain Sim Aero L-39). I usually fly payware/high quality freeware add-on aircraft. I have all the PSS Airbuses (+ the recent IFDG one's they look even beter). Other add-on aircraft I use regularly are Captain Sims F-104 Starfighter, Captain Sims MiG 21, Real Airs SIAI-Marchetti SF.260 and MAAM-SIMs B-25 "Briefing Time".I concentrate on scenery add-ons in Europe some things I use are FSGenesis Euro mesh, German Airports series, Scotflight Scenery, the excellent LFRD freeware airport (http://mapage.noos.fr/euro_vauchez/ptenga.html), some hard to find free Landclass scenery for Germany and France (ie I don't remember where I found them) and a bunch of other freeware major/minor airports from various sources. And finally I use MyTraffic 2004 AI to liven things up.Even if half these add-ons would work/be updated for FS2006 tracking the updates and installing them would be major WORK for me. Thinking back to early FS2004 times I remember trying out most of the standard aircraft for a few minutes followed by flying the Cessna and the Baron with the new scenery, clouds and ATC. After a day or 2 the experimenting with FS2002 add-ons began. O the joy of crashing the sim with FS2002 style landclass. The early realisation that all the FS2002 airfiles had problems in FS2004. Man that was
