Classic Jetliner Flying

Featured Replies

This is something a little different than what I'm used to doing, as I've mostly flown modern jets with the two-person crew and FMC. This time, I'm trying a flight in the old Boeing 727-200Adv to see how I manage. This was a short flight from Chicago O'Hare to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, and instead of using the airways and waypoints that I'm accustomed to with the modern jets, I'm flying VOR to VOR this time around. So here goes. Here is the aircraft taxiing out of the United terminal.

VOR runway 13 right approach. Well, the good news is that I found the airport, so at least I didn't screw that one up.

Touchdown runway 13 right.

A little surprised at the short stopping distance with this thing. Roughly about 1800 feet....although I suppose I have stopped in shorter distances with the 757 before.
