Hi, the PMDG models look fabulous. There is only one question I have before I decide to buy one or more. It states for best performance "OS: Windows 7 64-bit". How about Win8 64-bit?

Is it Win8 compatible? Thx

PMDG products works great on 8 x64. If you are not on windows 8 and FSX yet then be ready for FSX to have issues with your joystick/yoke and pedals without a few workarounds including the use of registered FSUIPC. See this mega thread.

I had to switch back to 7 before a workaround was found. Too lazy to go back now. :)

No issues whatsoever with win 8, fsx or any other software/hardware on my 2 yrs old laptop. works like a charm. no regrets of leaving win 7. also have no issues with saitek x52pro, i had them on win7 though.

No W8 Goflight drivers available so that OS is no use to me.

It has actually had a worse uptake rate than Vista despite running across Tablets and PC's around 2% of devices are running it

The only issue I'm having is the joystick one stated in the megathread. Only happens sometimes and it's deffinetly a windows issue, not realted to PMDG, as it happens in other games too. Everything else works great for me, with far less crashes than I had on 7 with my old pc.

So, the answer is yes. Buy PMDG products even with windows 8. You won't regret it. Just remember to run everything as admin.

Right now it's at your own risk - we're not officially supporting it. This may change in the future, but we saw enough strange issues when testing it (CTDs, stutter from changes in the way it handles DPC latency etc) that we're going to hold off for now. Windows 7 x64 is perfectly stable and mature and it's what we still recommend.
