March 9, 201313 yr Commercial Member I wanted to know what's going on with simconnect but you seem to want to pick me up on spelling mistakes. If I'm not posting among friends why bother? Some programs come up seem to be working fine and only report in the log that simconnect is down. It is possible that the WinSXS system is corrupted somehow by the driver install, so it could be that. And it could be an issue with the internet security. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
March 9, 201313 yr you seem to want to pick me up on spelling mistakes Where's the spelling mistake here? FSUIPC works independently of simconnect. Gerry Howard
March 9, 201313 yr Commercial Member FSUIPC could still be running, even though simconnect is not up, widefs could be communicating even though simconnect is not, so what? Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
March 9, 201313 yr Commercial Member So, it's not even a spelling mistake. mad dog surely posting "on the internet, you must expect to be roundly chastised" is frowned upon these days and could get you in trouble. We are not "on the internet", we are friends at AVSIM - respect. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
March 9, 201313 yr Commercial Member Pardon me but something's been going around for months knocking off simconnect and i'm hooking into anything along those lines. That is all, I don't need "chastising". LOL Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
March 9, 201313 yr mad dog surely posting "on the internet, you must expect to be roundly chastised" is frowned upon these days I think he was trying to do that "in jest" to lighten things up a little... "Don't make me come in there and separate you two! (you and mgh)" :LMAO:
March 9, 201313 yr Commercial Member Fair enough, apologies mad puppy (oops, sorry I really am only joking), but I was also trying to stay on the jest side, I always do. Too often I see people "picked up" on something that can be misrepresented. I thought that FSUIPC could run up and report simconnect down and communicate with other PCs, I'm not an expert but it's worth considering, at that stage very little was known about the actual problems encountered. March 9, 201313 yr simconnect will not even allow 'local' apps to comunuicate. Can you clarify exactly which apps are not communicating and what are the symptoms? Gerry Howard
March 9, 201313 yr Author For anyone: No need to reinstall anything. Just use the FSX SDKs to reinstall Simconnect. That might restore things to a working state very quickly. Oh Jim, if only.... Done that countless times, using various diferent versions too. I know that NORMALLY sorts it, but the trouble is, I'm sure it's not simconnect DIRECTLY that's being damaged or changed. I suspect its more like something it relies. You would obviously have much more knowledge of that than me. March 9, 201313 yr Can you clarify exactly which apps are not communicating and what are the symptoms? ?????? Gerry Howard
March 9, 201313 yr Author Sorry, missed your question before. Basically, every app that relies directly on simconnect fails either at startup, or at a later point. One example would be the freeware FSRecorder.... If the module is present, then as soon as FSX starts to load, then the simconnect initialisation error message ensues. Another example is OpusFSX... Although it loads okay, neither the weather engine or cam view modual actually work. The only app that that both finds AND appears to comunicate with simconnect, is FSUIPC. However, it only reports on it I believe and doesn't require it. Don't know what else I can tell you, other than that. Apps that NEED it, either cant find it, or can't connect to it. I'm currectly doing what must be the slowest FSX and addon installation in history, with a FULL Acronis backup between every couple of addons  So far, I'm almost done, with FSX still working perfectly, but WITHOUT having installed my printer drivers. I might just leave it that way, using my laptop to print with;-) Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

March 9, 201313 yr Author make a restore point first! ha ha! Restore point....??? I've just created a Restore Point, a Windows system Image, a Ghost v15 Image AND and an Acronis image  And STILL reluctant.
