March 7, 201313 yr Got a 6150 and have no isses. Most of these printers share the same drivers and software suite, so that was indeed a strange problem. Same here although I did a network rather than local install (printer connected to router rather than PC) and just installed the software that I knew I needed rather than a full install of all the bloatware they put on the install CD.
March 7, 201313 yr Strange, I have a PIXMA MG5250 which I installed after FSX and add-ons, and I've had no such issues. Best printer I've ever owned, actually. Ditto (except the bit about it being the best printer, that honour goes to he Epson R800) I also installed mine after FSX and use simconnect every time I fly...who told you it was specifically that printer driver, Dougal? I could imagine it might overwrite some windows dll files if you installed the entire suite (which I didn't) but I installed the full driver set...perhaps it does use different drivers..it is practically the same printer, though. I use mine over wifi.. Sent from the FondleSlab using Tapatalk JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
March 7, 201313 yr I use mine over wi-fi as well, maybe that's why it hasn't crashed simmconnect? Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!
March 7, 201313 yr I have owned 2 different Pixma printers and neither one messed up my FSX. I believe the problem lies elsewhere.
March 8, 201313 yr I use mine over wi-fi as well, maybe that's why it hasn't crashed simmconnect? Same set up for me with my two week old MG3200. Not a hint of failure with FSX.

March 8, 201313 yr Hmmm... I have the Canon Pixma MG5220 and have no issues with simconnect and my printer drivers. Must be a system specific conflict. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 8, 201313 yr You lost me here? If you installed all you drivers BEFORE FSX, how could SimConnect (which installs with FSX) have been killed by software (Canon) that was installed before FSX?Most likely it is a memory address conflict, between the two modules!! March 8, 201313 yr Commercial Member How is simconnect "dead"? What problems with simconnect do you have after installing the printer? Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com

March 8, 201313 yr My wife and I were married in Shalbourne, at the St Michael & All Angels Church. We spent many a night with our friends from the village hanging out in the Plough. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
March 8, 201313 yr Author Maybe it is sytem specific, but I cant really see how or why. Its not an unusual setup. For what its worth, I've done yet another reinstal of Windows and FSX. This time NOT from a bckup, but from scratch. I did this simply as a test because of the responses here (no, nothing better to do;-) ) FSX was working perfectly with SP1 & SP2. Then installed Canon software from the supplied CD and NOTHING else apart from mobo drivers. Exactly the same problem with simconnect, even though FSUIPC reported zero issues. Uninstalled Canon software via CP and everything once again okay. A slight change here though.... After removing the Canon software, I downloaded (from Canon) ONLY the required drivers to enable the printer to work. Problem returned once again. Now however, uninstalling the drivers has NOT solved the problem, so I'm 'guessing' it's changed something on my system. Having just this morning received a new SSD for Windows and a Velociraptor for FSX, I'm going to do it again too;-) With so many of you reporting no issues with similar software, obviously I have to be willing to accept it might be my setup, but I just don't see how. Also obviously, I'm open to all and any suggestions.... March 8, 201313 yr It seems to me Dougal, that you must have been really wicked in a previous life. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA
