March 12, 201313 yr http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/ryanair-to-buy-200-boeings-in-18bn-order-29123271.html Looks like that little insignificant airline in the west of Europe has ordered another 200 737s... Still, much as I despise the day that company was born, news is news, and a very nice order for Boeing to get... March 12, 201313 yr Not the 737MAX? Aw, that is a disappointment! You think they would consider what the aviation enthusiast wants. So there's gonna be 500 738's flying around, kinda boring really Jesse Casserly ✌🏼️ https://www.youtube.com/user/JesseCasserly757 💻 i7-10750H 2.6 GHz / 5.0 GHz, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD, 1TB HDD, RTX 2080 Super Saitek X-56 HOTAS
March 12, 201313 yr The type hasn't been decided. The link reads: It's not clear at this stage whether Ryanair has plumped for the 737-800 or Boeing's new 'Max' variation. Gerry Howard
March 12, 201313 yr Author I'm pretty confident it's going to be the NG, it'll mean that they can get them sooner to replace their current generation and also would have been able to get a deal on them because as it stands Boeing didn't have enough orders for the NG to keep the production line running until the MAX would be able to take over... Regards, Ró. Also looks like the Seattle Times has confirmed it's to be the NG at a very heavy discount; http://seattletimes.com/html/businesstechnology/2020539925_boeingryanairxml.html Regards, Ró. March 12, 201313 yr Ryanair has been so critical of the price of the 737 and held out on that order for such a long time. I wonder if Boeing caved a little and gave a better price.Other competition is coming into market now with Sukhoi Superjet 100 and Bombardier C Series, so this was probably the last chance for Boeing to ink a deal before those other two try and win Ryanair over.Edit: Just so Ro's post and they did cave....a lot. No surprise actually. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
March 13, 201313 yr It's not so unusual for Boeing to give deep discounts to keep a line running with "lame duck" models. They practically gave away 767s to keep the line open while they fought for the tanker contract and the 787 was delayed.
