I have reinstalled everything with the arrival of a new laptop. Everything works well however I cannot get speed or radio altimeter call outs. I have gone into the Options menu on the FMC and under "simulations"  (page 3) the call outs are set to "yes" for the FO. Nothing works but if I load the 744X all the call outs work just fine.

Any ideas anyone?

Anyone? 66 views and no one has any advice?

Have You installed FS2Crew? I believe it renames some of the files from PMDG Sound folder (at least this is the case in JS41), because it uses its own. Please check that folder. Someone owning 737NGX will provide You the names of the files played back for callouts.

Thanks Bartlomiej but no - I do not have FS2 Crew.

As far as I remember my installation - there is still another option concerning those calls. It's an option related to the NGX sound in general - you have to choose the source of the sound according to your general sound settings in the FSX menus and in your OS.

From those "precision manuals":

"Next, in the SOUND menu, you will find the following settings available to

you:

(...)

If you have multiple sound devices attached to your computer, you can

choose between them using the DEVICE selector in this menu."

This setting cured the problem for me.

Viele,

Thanks for the reply but I do not have anything else installed only the speakers built in to the laptop. The sound settings for the 744 and the NGX are identical but sounds work only in the 744 but not the NGX.

Gerry,

same with my system but there are still two options (minimum): "default" and the actual sound device, your laptop was delivered with.

You have to set this option to your current device in use (the device that is displayed in the OS as well as in the sound configuration of your base FSX).

Thanks for the help Oliver. In the CDU under "Options" - "Sound" there is nothing under devices. In the FSX menu under "Options" ,"Settings" "Sound" under speakers the "primary default device" does not work and neither does the "Realtek HD speakers".

Gerry

I guess "Realtek" is your active device, so:

- activate it in the FSX settings, close down FSX

- fire up FSX again, see if it's still set to "Realtek"

- load the NGX your usual way and try the NGX sound devices again

Not sure right now, whether I had to reinstall the NGX after configuring sound options in FSX ...

engwerda are you sure u have the GPWS warnings turned on in the FMC config options? I don't meant in the general OPTIONS menu as you describe above but in the actual set-up of the aircraft? I can't remember exactly what it is called as I'm not near the sim. But it could be that the specific plane you are using has the GPWS system turned off in the FMC.

Ok I'm at the sim:

On FMC: PMDG SETUP -> AIRCRAFT -> EQUIPMENT -> GPWS (pages 8,9,10,11/11)

I have reinstalled everything with the arrival of a new laptop. Everything works well however I cannot get speed or radio altimeter call outs. I have gone into the Options menu on the FMC and under "simulations"  (page 3) the call outs are set to "yes" for the FO.

The FO call outs are just 80 knots and V1 if I recall correctly. If you are looking for GPWS (ie Approaching Minimums, Minimums, 50, 30, 20, 10 etc) then you are looking for other options (as above).

Many thanks for that information. There is quite a bit there that I never knew about. I have checked it all and everything is set to "yes" that can be so set and still nothing. No V1, VR, V2 call outs and nothing in the way of GPWS call outs on finals either.

One thing I did notice though is that while I get engine and gear extension noise I do not get Autopilot or AT off noises at all and the chimes don't work either. Puzzling.

Many thanks for your help so far everyone,

Gerry

Hi,

I have the same problem - no callouts for 80 and V1 as well as no call outs for altitude on approach.  I have Realtek Speakers and the options are checked for them in FSX and the set up menu.  GWPS is called only for terrain warning.  IS there something in the PMDG config that needs to be changed or in FSX?

Thanks

Ryan,

Thanks - that worked.

Rob - try Ryan's fix! All the call outs now work and I now have AP disconnect audio warnings and everything.
