March 15, 201313 yr The Muti-Crew -Experience people have been so kind to let me download the Demo again. The first time i ran out of demo start ups trying to get it to run. This is the problem, I can't seem to get past the application wizard, in particularly the part about setting up the microphone/headset. I think it is the second window that comes up. I choose my usb headset for sound in and sound out, then click next and the wizard shuts down.....any ideas...I have only done this once with my second demo..don't want to run out of demo chances
March 15, 201313 yr Author Well so much for that...tried it twice and demo is over...never got past setting up headset...

Slider to the bottom. Also try running both the wizard (xpwiz.exe) and "mce.exe" as administrator. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
March 15, 201313 yr Commercial Member UAC was disabled, but i can say i did not run as administrator Sorry to hear things didn't go smoothly for you. Just be aware, the Extended Demo will only be useful for people who had trouble with the first Demo and asked for it within a week. There is a built-in protection system whereby no further Demo can be run beyond 10 days after the first Demo was started. I am really hoping this is the case, otherwise you'll have to pass on this until you have a chance to format your hard drive at which point you can have a go. If you never installed MCE earlier than 7 days ago, I am confident we can get you going. There is a tool you can use to select the relevant input and output. Click Start->All Programs->Multi Crew Experience->Tools->Assign sound device. On Windows 8, just look for the tile "Assign sound device" Be aware, the wizard is a separate application (xpwiz.exe). I suggest you right-click it and set it to run as administrator, then run it again. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
March 15, 201313 yr Author I installed the first demo on Sunday, March 10.You sent me the "extended Demo" yesterday and i installed it today per your instructions. Like i said up above it got to the second or third window in the wizard then the wizard shut down. I did then start FSX, and got the messages about running the fsinsider software and choose run, MCE started up then quit.I was only able to do this once with the extended demo.
March 15, 201313 yr Commercial Member OK, try this Uninstall MCE via Windows Control Panel Restart your machine. Go back to the Extended Demo Suggest you temporarily disable your anti-virus, anti-malware for the next 20 minutes or so. Right-click "Setup", and select "run as admin" When you are done with the installation, click Start->All Programs->Multi Crew Experience->Tools->Restore factory Settings. Answer "Yes" when prompted. Go to MCE installation folder and set both "xpwiz.exe" and "mce.exe" to run as admin. Run "xpwiz.exe" at least once. See how it goes. When it says "Demo expired" does the app continue lading or does it stop right there? March 15, 201313 yr Author OK, have done as you have instructed, a few things that happened, before starting wizard, i choose my sound device from tools, then start the wizard, and it ask for my sound devices, this time i left it to the default sound output, which is my 5.1 sound, and the mic was already set to my USB headset. Now it goes on with the rest of the wizard, except it kinda gets mixed up...it goes from page 5 to page 7 then to page 6 then to page 8,9 and finish. After this, it installs MCE icon on desktop, i start this icon and that is were it tells me demo is over. I start FSX and no messages about letting Fsinsider.dll run and FSX starts normally....no MCE.
July 17, 201312 yr I installed DEMO today and after the wizard it says my trial period has ended. I didn't even try it I have Windows 7 - UAC disabled - Not sure if I did run Setup as Administrator. I wanted to test it with Majestic Dash-8 before buying it. Any problems with demo reported recently?

Any problems with demo reported recently? Suggest you restore to factory settings Start->All Programs->Multi Crew Experience->Tools->Restore factory settings You will be prompted to go through the wizard. Please do so. After that, you can assume installation is OK. Assuming you never installed MCE since you last formatted your hard drive, you should be good to go for 3 days or 30 runs whichever expires first. July 18, 201312 yr Well...Thanks for your help, but it didn't work... I bought it today...problem solved
February 22, 201412 yr I realize this topic is very old. However, I have identically the same problem. I spent two hours downloading the demo. Another hour trying to get it set up only to tell me my trial period is over the very first time I ran it. I have tried all of the above steps without any luck. The program looks very promising, but if it is this difficult to simply run a demo version, I'm not sure it's for me. I'm not interesting in downloading another extended version, which will take yet again two more hours... However, if there is something else (beyond the above suggestions) that MCE can help with, I am willing to try.
