March 16, 201313 yr Hello all, I must have missed something somewhere: I can't select the flight "PMDG737NGX Tutorial #2 EHAM-LOWI" as in FSX this flight does not show-up when clicking "free filght" and then "Load". -Is-it a pb for the rest of the tutorial #2 ? - should I just place my 737 in EHAM starting with a completly dark cockpit ? I just bought this wonderful 737NGX with SP1 already included. Many thanks Michel Michel L. LFPG Fan du 737NGX et du 772LR

March 17, 201313 yr I must have missed something somewhere: I can't select the flight "PMDG737NGX Tutorial #2 EHAM-LOWI" as in FSX this flight does not show-up when clicking "free filght" and then "Load". Hi Michel, Did you do Tutorial No1? This flight was not able to be loaded as part of the teaching exercise Tutorial N2 is loaded as you describe above. The Tutorial No2 should automatically load into their respective places. An extract from the tutorial.......... "LOADING THE SAVED FLIGHT: If you are starting from the end of Tutorial #1 with FSX still running, skip this short section on loading the Tutorial #2 saved flight and go straight to ELECTRICAL POWER UP below. • Start FSX and click “Free Flight.” • Click the “Load” button. • Select the flight “PMDG 737NGX Tutorial #2 EHAM-LOWI” The sim will load and put you in the cockpit at the same position we left off from at the end of Tutorial #1. Note – the loading may take a long time and it may appear to hang after it finishes. If this happens, Alt-Tab to select FSX, then press Alt-Enter and it should bring it back to life". Have you checked the file location...FSX/PMDG/PMDG737NGX/Panel State to see the panel states are stored there. There should have three versions of each flight leg with its extensions, rte,fmc and sav. The pic below is a copy of my saved flights to load, and indicates what you should be seeing when you press the load button. These flights will be displayed with any others you may have saved. Regards Geoff Bryce
March 17, 201313 yr Author Thank you Geoff and Luke, Yes I performed Tuto #1 a couple of weeks ago but I don't recall to have saved anything when arrived in EHAM. Actually I recall to have quit FSX right after landing in EHAM. I checked FSX/PMDG/PMDG737NGX/Panel State and it appears that every file is in place (see attached pic). Again, it might be not big deal not to load the flight as every route aspects + fuel data will have to be filled in the FMC manually, except maybe the cargo load which appears to me to come from Tuto #1 So providing I manually place the aircraft in EHAM (cold and dark cockpit) and that I load the cargo as per Tuto #1, I should be good to performe Tuto #2 (my plan for this coming rainy Sunday afternoon in Paris !). Do you confirm ? In any case, I would have liked to follow the Tuto #2 step by step in full and I am (just a little bit) puzzled that I am stucked as soon as at page 9. Could the problem come from the initial installation of my 737NGX ? Cheers ! Michel Michel L. LFPG Fan du 737NGX et du 772LR

Michel Hi Michel The above pre saved flights were only put there in case you had a major drama some where and you wanted fly from that leg again. For example, if you had a drama with the final approach into LOWI, you could just reload this portion of the flight. It really is a great tutorial with a very in depth fuel planning portion, so by not pre-loading the tutorial flight, you are doing it the way the tutorial was intended. When I did tutorial 2, I manually loaded the a/c at EHAM, cold and dark, then manually completed the FMC, worked through Ryan's great fuel calculation tutorial, Cargo load as per Tutorial 1, printed out the charts and had a great few hours, well maybe several hours as quite addictive... AND afterwards, I could see the benefit of the saved flights, especially the before EHAM-LOWI visual approach LOWI, as this approach is one you may need to do several times before you can do it with some confidence. Do not forget, there is an addition to the tutorial which was missed out....see...http://forum.avsim.net/topic/366716-tutorial-2-page-118-missing-step/ As for why the flight sectors did not transfer into the "load" area of FSX when you loaded the a/c into FSX I do not know. Ummmm....When did you buy the 737NGX. When it first came out, Tutorial 2 was not included with the download and you had to obtain this from the PMDG site? Maybe a ticket to them will be a quick answer to your question. log into their site at: http://support.precisionmanuals.com/Main/Default.aspx when you get in there, Click the Register box at the top left, (under the Support Desk name) enter your details as below, including login, submit this, and you can then fill out the details of that and any other problem you have. They will get back to you in a few days, usually with very helpful information. When they do work out what was wrong, will you come back and post the answer please? Have a great wet afternoon in Paris. Geoff Bryce
March 18, 201313 yr Author Indeed it was wet and stormy here yesterday afternoon ! I bought this fantastic 737NGX one month ago so I guess it came with all the latest I performed Tuto #2 yesterday as anticipated (with the additional info that were missing in the original doc) and I have to say even if it hurts my feelings, I crashed to the montain right before the last turn !. I definitly need to re-fly at least the last portion of the tuto and this were it gets interesting to be able to load the last segment of the flight. I will therefore fill a ticket to PMDG support and will let you know the output. Cheers Michel Michel L. LFPG Fan du 737NGX et du 772LR

It took me quite a few times before I could do a descending turn without getting too fast while at the same time remembering there was a ridge before the runway you had to clear. Seeing the Youtube real word guys do the approach, they make it look easy, guess practice and two guys up front makes helps Regards. Geoff Bryce
March 19, 201313 yr You need to remind yourself that you need to pull up in the turn. And since you will be making it a tight turn, you need tu pull up quite a bit. Also, use Terrain display on ND, it is a great tool in mountainous terrain such as Innsbruck, Sion or Samedan. And listen to the GPWS. It might give nuisance alerts, but you should be aware what triggers them. And last thing, remember - there is a reason this portion is called "visual segment". Look out the window, if you have HUD, use it. Only glance at airspeed every once in a while - if I had to fly this approach IRL, I would probably have my FO read the basic stuff to me, airspeed, VS, so such. --Peter Fabian
March 19, 201313 yr Commercial Member I doubt it's the problem, but make sure you're running FSX as an administrator and have admin rights to the directory where those flights are stored. To do this, navigate to the Microsoft Games folder on your drive and:Right click on the Flight Simulator X folder:Select PropertiesSelect the Security tab at the topClick on the Users account in the Group boxIn the Permissions box, check the box Full ControlClick OK Kyle Rodgers

Maybe i am wrong, and you have already done it, but I am spanish, and i have to move the content of the FSX files that PMDG install in My Documents to the native FSX files already installed in the same folder.
