March 20, 201313 yr Some ai traffic files require 100% ai settings to show any. The threshold is set by the traffic designer in the flightplans.txt file. In the payware UT2007 many are set at 99%, some at 25%, some at 8%. In this example if you set below 99%, only the 25% and 8% are made active. The designer chooses this threshold based on the complexity of the model and the frequency and complexity of each models flight plan. Here's a screenshot extract from AI Flight Planner v2 of the World of AI package for low cost carrier Spicejet just to show how they set percent thresholds:
March 21, 201313 yr Author Oh... better than that, I'll just have a look before leaving. Some of these may have what you're looking for. They're all in the library here. (I've long since given up trying to get columns of words to align correctly). Lanzarote: grccrcv.zip Zurich Radar: zrh_radaratc2_s1.zip Manchester: egcc_rc3.zip Winnipeg: cywg.zip Toronto: cyyz.zip Honolulu: phnl_atc_s1.zip And this one is a complete flight, recorded from the cockpit: realatc_flight425.zip Regards, D Hey D, Thanks so much for the advice on this. I will give them a look! Sounds great! For now though I think I am getting closer to where I want to be. I added a lot more of my WOAI files and now I am getting A LOT more chatter as was the suggestion from JD. Now I have to decide to purchase one of the Traffic Programs. Looks like UT is what most are doing. I have to laugh guys. Looks like you can have a hobby ALL IN ITSELF just with traffic alone. Good grief. HAHA. So if I understand that right, you'd set the settings to more realistic traffic for that airport? For example you'd set Delta flights or flight plans at a lower % out of say Duluth than you would out of MSP since there are obviously a lot more Delta out of MSP. Also you'd set a lower percent say for Air Tran out of MSP than for Delta? Do I have the basic concept down? Respectfully, Jet
March 21, 201313 yr I run my traffic slider at 100% and let the designer handle the thresholds. The threshold is more for the convenience of the user to adjust for the resources of the pc to prevent stutters, etc. The flight plan schedule will handle the traffic density of Duluth whether at 100% or 30%. The threshold is just what allows the ai to show up in FS. In this case KDLH is just a matter if you want it to show up as the flight plan is a low density schedule so 30% might be the best since it takes minimal pc resources. On the other hand, if considered of minimum importance, a higher threshold could be used. The designer might have let us say KMSP Delta airline flights divided into multiple flight plans with some thresholds at 50%, 75%, and 100%. Each one can have the same high density. As you increase the FS slider, more of these high density schedules become active taking more resources. It is a balancing act of important schedules vs. pc resource availability with the user deciding what works best for his/her environment.
March 21, 201313 yr I actually create my own RW chatter files. I download some archived ones from liveatc.net from a particular region/center, and then split up the individual exchanges between pilots and controllers with an opensource program called Audacity, and then insert those wavs into the appropriate RC folders. I really love the ambience of more localized ATC chatter when you switch centers.
March 22, 201313 yr Author Ok Ronzie now I get it. Well, I am happy that the wife has approved of the new purchase of the Intel Core i7 3770K, DDR3 SDRAM, and a new SSHD to go with my hardrive. Thinking I might use it as a cache like some in the know have suggested. I'm thinking with that uplift in power I should be able to run most all things traffic, ATC, and Active Sky. I actually create my own RW chatter files. I really love the ambience of more localized ATC chatter when you switch centers. Not a bad idea. I am finding though, that with Meatwater's improvement of the soundfiles, the chatter is coming through pretty nicely. On my next RW trip, I am thinking of recording my flights and seeing what I might do with them. Thanks for the input, I'll check that out as well. Respectfully, Jet
March 26, 201313 yr BTW, here's a link to the MeatWater voice packs. Big package - 10-part download. But worth it. Be sure to read the install instructions before you start patching. Alan. Where do I find the instructions for installing these voices? Thanks. Dennis Dennis Elliott
March 26, 201313 yr Author Hi Alan, What I did was simply find the path to winwood. That is the folder with all the voice information in RC4, to the best of my knowledge. In my case it was C:\Program Files (x86)\rcv4x\winwood Make sure you select the (x) rcv4. I simply unzipped them to that folder. (Right click on the zipped files) it will ask you where to unzip them to. The above is where I unzipped them too. BEFORE YOU DO THIS THOUGH BACK UP YOUR WINWOOD FOLDER!!!!!!!! Just incase something goes wrong. When it asked me about replacing files, I simply did a yes to all and everthing is working well and has since. Good Luck! Respectfully, Jet
