New "Pre-Recorded Chatter" and Voices?

Featured Replies

Is there anyway to update the Pre-Recorded Chatter?  New files etc anywhere?

Is there a way to get new voices?  American for my case if possible?  Thanks.

Sorry if this has been addressed my search came up empty.

Have a great day!

Respectfully,

Jet

For voices, search the Avsim file library (once it's available again - doesn't seem to be at the moment) for "MeatWater Radar Contact 4 VocPack". Very good, natural-sounding stuff. Some American voices in an international selection. Hope this helps.

Well that makes sense!  Yep that is what I am looking for for the chatter.  I was wondering too if RV4 has like an expansion pak or if someone has put together more voices for controllers.  I wasn't clear in my question.  Hey thanks for responding

You're welcome, but just to be clear in my answer - the MeatWater pack provides replacement voices for controllers and pilots - it doesn't address background ATC chatter. I'm not sure if there are alternative packs available for that or not.

AH Ok!  Even more to the point of what I was looking for then.  Ya, I had to chuckle after my first RV4 flight over an hour.  I was like, uh, HERD THAT before.  What would maybe be cool on the next update is some sort of engine similar to what Active Sky uses for weather.  Maybe they could have the engine look at where you are and tie into online actual ATC as background chatter.

Thanks so much Alan, I appreciate your help.  Still new to RV4.

If your ai is active and the traffic count fits, you should not need prerecorded chatter for ambiance. It slows RC performance up as well.

Remember that you should only hear aircraft on the same frequency/phase of flight.

Just an opinion.

BTW, here's a link to the MeatWater voice packs. Big package - 10-part download. But worth it. Be sure to read the install instructions before you start patching.

there are instructions near the end of the manual on how to record your own voices, edit them, name them, etc. also is discussed how the chatter files are organized, and how you need to name them as well

it's not for the weak of heart!

Thanks guys!!

1st I downloaded Meatwater's files and they are working perfectly.  What a welcome improvement and it is more of the speed that I am accustomed to in the real world.  Very well done in fact.

2nd I appreciate your taking the time to give me more tips.  I am still working with WOAI and trying to find the sweet spot that does not drop my frames below 20.  I am also working with AS2012 as well so I am busy trying out all sorts of new tricks and tips trying to get as much realism for my machine like everyone else.  I see a SSHD in my future real soon.  Along with that will be a much needed total upgrade.  My kid can have this machine.

3rd I am interested in looking into making my own files.  I hate to admit I did not read that far, but this sounds great.  I imagine you can get recordings from ATC live or whatever?

As we talked about before JD I can't wait to see the next gen Radar Contact that can handle us all the way to the Gates/FBO respectively.

Finally what I am need of is now to set the AI up where I have more traffic during cruise flight.  Im thinking first hand that I do not have enough downloaded I am setting my scales to 60 to 80 percent but I only get traffic about once every 10 minutes.  Now experience tells me that even in the early AM the NE corridor is always busier than that.  :)

Does RC  generate or suppress the traffic?  OR  Does FSX handle it all and RC enhances?  Just curious.

I will look into that enviro32 as well however I'd rather have everything work within FSX AS2012 and RC.

Thanks so much guys!

Oh, JD, I don't feel qualified to suggest but if I may.  The sound quality is so good on the native RC that it is too good.  I mean that with total respect.  I really like Meats enhancement and reworking of the files.  It does give that actual aircraft feel.

Now I have years of experience behind me and the goal is to provide a great product for as many as you can but what about some sort of graduated scale of

like Novice, beginner, private pilot, instrument pilot, and Airline Transport Pilot level of realism/difficulty.

I have always found that the programs I enjoyed the most were the ones I had to work at to get to the top so to speak.  Just ideas.

Thanks for an excellent improvement over the stock ATC that came with FS.

Talk to you soon,.

I have a seperate program called Enviro32 check this out http://realatc.net/RealATC.htm Wayne.

Hey Wayne, thanks so much but I surf with Google Chrome and it identified the website as having malware.

Would I be better of with a payware traffic program instead of WOAI.  Im halfway there anyway as WOAI last I checked is going to be unsupported.

That will be a false positive I think I never had any trouble I run enviro32 on a seperate pc for traffic chatter it's great.

Hi.

I recall there may be one or two extra chatter files available-  I trawled through the library here a couple of years ago and found some. If I remember, I'll have a look through my archive when I get home & see if I can find file names. I think the drawback with background chatter is that the files are region-specific. I don't mean in terms of national accent, rather that they are designed to be installed to a specific folder within one region's sound-set.

If you are in possession of a scanner, it may be easiest to record your own though I suppose you'd have to obtain several permissions if you wanted to share...

Reading the other posts in this thread, I wonder how many AI flight plans are needed for a really full-sounding comms channel. Having only just thought about it for the first time I suppose that only aircraft within spawning distance would have anything to say...

Best regards,

D

Oh... better than that, I'll just have a look before leaving. Some of these may have what you're looking for. They're all in the library here. (I've long since given up trying to get columns of words to align correctly).

Lanzarote:        grccrcv.zip

Zurich Radar:       zrh_radaratc2_s1.zip

Manchester:       egcc_rc3.zip

Winnipeg:       cywg.zip

Toronto:       cyyz.zip

Honolulu:       phnl_atc_s1.zip

And this one is a complete flight, recorded from the cockpit: realatc_flight425.zip

D

I am the owner of realatc.net. There is no problem with the site. Please try accessing it from either Firefox of Internet Explorer. Don't know what Google's problem is but their software (not search engines) having no problems. Something in a cache is usually the culprit.

Hi Ralph!

I didn't have one of the splash media players.  I don't remember which one it was.  But I went back with regular internet explorer and did fine.  So ??

Sorry for any confusion.

Respectfully,

Jet
