March 28, 201313 yr This is in regards to the MD11 for FSX. Is there any place in the manuals and tutorials besides Pages 50.7 and 50.8 of the FMS manual that discusses entering altitude and speed restrictions into a flight plan? I was trying to enter an altitude restriction of 3000' into a flight plan and no matter what format I tried I always got a message that the value was out of parameter or something like that. I tried 3000, /3000, 300, /300, 30, /30, 3, /3 and also with a speed restriction, 180/3000, 180/300, 180/30, 180/3. Nothing I tried would work and I thought that I have done this before and it worked fine. How do you enter just a speed restriction, just an altitude restriction or both? Rod Storer
March 29, 201313 yr 180/-3000 - minus for at or below + is for at or above 180/+3000 hop this helps I wrote them in BOLD so you can see the Minus and the plus Firas Salim"The joy of being is the joy of being conscious. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
March 29, 201313 yr You can always click on the LSK button right of the waypoint, it will open a nice little menu where you can enter such info. It is very strange though, /3000 should do it... Just speed xxx/ just altitude /xxx both xxx/xxx Or as mentioned, press the LSK right of the constraint. HTH, Manfred Manfred G. Ships are cooler that you think.
March 29, 201313 yr Oh i also forgot as far as speed i dont think you can put + or - the way i do it is i just put the speed that i want and PULL the knob Remember specially on Approach if the Aircraft is doing 200 and you manually tune to 180 and then after a few seconds you want it to do 160 (((( it wont do that --- that fast )))) the best way to do that is to use spoilers let the Aircraft adjust to the new speed then try again with the new speed that you want and Please PULL the knob hop this helps Firas Salim"The joy of being is the joy of being conscious. March 29, 201313 yr AFAIK the MD11 FMS will accept restrictions in the same way as Boeing FMC's, in the usual SPD/ALT format, normally though the best way is to enter any constraints you press the R-LSK next to the waypoint and enter them into the VERT REV page, where you can choose Altitude At or Above, Altitude At or Altitude At or Below, as well as a Maximum Speed Restriction, but no minimum speed (in this case, use selected speed as previously mentioned). Example, 245/5000+ in the MD-11 is the same as 245/5000A in a Boeing. Dan Schultz REX Latitude BETA Team Member https://rexlatitude.com
March 30, 201313 yr It won't accept a lower alt in the FMS when 1 or more waypoints later a higher one is set. For example AAAAA 3000 bbbbb +5000 You have to clear +5000 at bbbbb and then you can insert 3000 at AAAAA Hope it helps. John

March 31, 201313 yr Author I have no idea why, but I tried again and the flt pln page just will not accept an altitude change, I always get a message value out of parameter or something like that. I can however get into the vert rev page and enter the altitude I want and the FMS will accept it. Thanks for the help and I am sure that at one time I could change the altitude on the flt pln page, but not anymore for some reason. Rod Storer
