Unfortunately that seems an extremely remote possibility. PMDG have sadly publically washed their hands of the MD11 and won't be offering anything further. I, along with many others think this is a huge shame, however they constantly state that the MD11 didn't do as well as they hoped. I think that the MD has a huge amount of unfulfilled potential - in fact I believe that PMDG could more than likely give it a boost in sales by offering a couple of minor systems upgrades such as WXR integration, Failure system that doesn't need to be activated each flight, a usable SDK (for FS2Crew voice integration) and the ACARS Uplink similar to the 777. I am surprised that they've never emailed their existing customer base to gauge the demand for such a Service Pack - even if chargeable. I for one would certainly shell out $25 for an upgrade like this. Just my opinion. Tom Beckett

Custom Copilot Responses
tombeckett2285 replied to tombeckett2285's topic in The Multi-Crew Experience (MCE) Support Forum
Thanks for the responses - the reason I wanted to record it myself is to make it more 'natural' sounding - I understand the limitations of the speech engine etc and how it strings together words to create phrases, hence why I would have preferred the option to create my own. Tom -
Afternoon, I have been looking at getting this software, reviews are very positive and I am impressed by the level of service offered by the devs. However, there is one major question I need answering before parting with my cash. Does MCE support or allow the use of custom recorded responses to the checklists? For example, can I record the phrase "Flaps 28 Set" and include it as a custom checklist response? Thanks, Tom

PMDG MD11 gear issue after Takeoff !
tombeckett2285 replied to Zoho30's topic in PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)
If the 'G' command works it obviously isn't a problem with the MD11 - it is a problem with the output from your Saitek switch panel. You need to use FSUIPC or similar to find out what is being sent when you raise the gear lever on your switch panel, and assign that to the Landing Gear Lever Up/Down command - otherwise just bind it to the 'G' keystroke. Are you sure you haven't bound it to the CTR GEAR NORM/UP switch instead? -
BHX has been using NDB/DME approaches on and off over the past 6 months, due to the runway extension works. Emirates send 2 x 77W's a day there, AI send 6 x 787's plus all the other traffic. They definitely still have a place, I wish sometimes on VATSIM that controllers would allocate other instrument approaches other than ILS, it would keep everyone on their toes! Iris Global Express Repaint
tombeckett2285 replied to piperarrow41's topic in The Paint Request Forum
I had a go using the 'repaint kit' supplied with these IRIS CRJ models and frankly it is an absolute nightmare! All that is supplied is a photoshop file with wire frames of the exterior. So basically, you have to build the repaint from the ground up without any panel, door, window or pitot/static references. I know it is freeware, but POSKY repaint kits are heaven compared to these IRIS ones! I just really don't have the time to dedicate building a psd from nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
01APR14 - Quick PMDG 777 SP1 Update
tombeckett2285 replied to rsrandazzo's topic in PMDG General Forum
I've been well and truly had. Well played RSR, well played sir. Not many manage to totally stitch me up like a kipper but it's been done. Suppose I'll have to buy the 777 now...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Some of the opinions on descent planning etc seem very idealistic, in RW ops it is not unusual to be kept higher than the 'optimum' descent profile, and utilising all of the options open to you to put the aircraft in the slot and stabilised by your SOP gate is not 'the wrong way' to do things. On VATSIM if there is not much traffic around and no ATC I will often perform high speed approaches, often keeping it at 270kts to 15nm then allow the speed to bleed off, gear and flaps (flaps 15 is your friend!) as appropriate and be spooled up, flaps 30 and on profile at 1000'. It makes good practice and keeps you trying to think in front of the aircraft. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

PMDG Manuals Shipping Cost to EU
tombeckett2285 replied to tombeckett2285's topic in PMDG General Forum
OK Robert, thanks for the explanation. I do fully understand your position, being involved in retail and dispatch myself. Bill, PM Sent  Cheers, Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I would very much like to purchase the QRH for the MD-11. Unfortunately, the only shipping option for the EU is Fedex, and frankly $148 shipping for the manual plus the $45 cost makes it unrealistic. Why do PMDG no longer offer USPS shipping to the EU? I looked on the USPS website and shipping would cost $30. I can justify $75 all in. $195 I cannot. If they provided permission, I could get it spiral bound in the UK for around £20. Jeez, I'll even pay the $45 to them just for the rights to reproduce it as a one off! Any help from Messrs Maziarz or Randazzo please?? Cheers, and Merry Christmas! Tom Beckett

Hmmm. To tell you the truth, I can't remember. It's embedded in my brain for some reason, but only God knows where from. Maybe I'm thinking of NDB/DME approaches, but it would make sense to keep your SOPS the same for all NPA's so maybe I'm not totally deluded Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It's a procedure turn, so you'd be best to fly the outbound and inbound parts of the turn using HDG SEL mode, referencing the DME reading to know when to start. Some operators require you to fly non-precision approaches in heading select mode anyway, and not use VOR LOC to track approach courses. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

+1 Simply one of the best and most high fidelity add ons for FSX, especially considering the price. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You need to make sure BOTH the ZFWCG and TOCG are entered on the PERF INIT or the V-speeds won't confirm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
