December 24, 201312 yr I would very much like to purchase the QRH for the MD-11. Unfortunately, the only shipping option for the EU is Fedex, and frankly $148 shipping for the manual plus the $45 cost makes it unrealistic. Why do PMDG no longer offer USPS shipping to the EU? I looked on the USPS website and shipping would cost $30. I can justify $75 all in. $195 I cannot. If they provided permission, I could get it spiral bound in the UK for around £20. Jeez, I'll even pay the $45 to them just for the rights to reproduce it as a one off! Any help from Messrs Maziarz or Randazzo please?? Cheers, and Merry Christmas! Tom Beckett
December 24, 201312 yr Commercial Member I noticed the same thing when I was thinking about getting paper versions of PMDG manuals, I can't justify those shipping costs when they are nearly as high as the actual product. I really wish there would be a way to obtain those through some European FS shop or something... Regards Joona L
December 24, 201312 yr Shipping overseas always seems to be more expensive than it needs to be. I feel your pain, I dont buy alot of stuff overseas due to the shipping cost and import taxes.
December 24, 201312 yr Commercial Member I'd say you boys over in Europe have it relatively easy. Try having it shipped to Asia. But wait! That's not all! Due to stupid federal regulations in certain asian countries (Singapore exempt as it's a free port), enjoy being taxed to hell and back! Ugh. Makes me sad. Aamir Thacker
December 24, 201312 yr Shipping costs are the only reason I didn't buy the 777 manuals. David Porrett
December 25, 201312 yr I am based in the UK and I am happy to sell you my PMDG MD11 manuals if you pay the postage. Regards Bill Miller Bill Miller
December 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member Tom- Unfortunately, our experience has been that regular post creates too many problems for the reduction in cost. (You get what you pay for?) We had dozens upon dozens of customers (mostly in the UK, it seemed- but certainly not confined to just UK post) who would place an order and the shipment would take months to arrive. For still others, they would place an order, and it would cross the pond to their local post office only to sit for weeks before being returned to the USA as "unclaimed" even though the customer was never notified that the package was waiting for them. In many cases, we were finding ourselves shipping the same box of materials back and forth across the ocean 2, 3, 4, 5 times before finally resolving the issue. Frankly- that is just too expensive for a tiny little company like PMDG- so we had to start putting limits on the shipping options. FedEx might be more expensive- but at least the stuff gets where it is suppose to go. I'm sorry it impacts you! Robert S. December 26, 201312 yr Author OK Robert, thanks for the explanation. I do fully understand your position, being involved in retail and dispatch myself. Bill, PM Sent  Cheers, Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
December 26, 201312 yr Robert - how about partnering with a European distributor, bulk-ship a load of sets to Europe and let them handle the distribution from there? --Peter Fabian
December 26, 201312 yr Commercial Member Peter- We tried that with Aerosoft a few years back. The problem is that it doesn't save the end customer any money. In fact- it made it MORE expensive... Demand for the sets just isn't high enough to justify producing in the volume that would be required to see a realized shipping discount. Robert S.
