April 3, 201313 yr G'day After many many years of buying hardware and tweaking I have finally got my flight sim (FSX) to perform great. I have been flying sims since the Flight sim 4 (c1980's), and have spent too much of my life in front of the sim, partly flying and partly tweaking. Now I get 95% of the time 30= FPS with all sliders full except water. I also fly the real things since about 2005. I support the addon community and I get pleasantly amazed at some of the great products out there. I have the 737NGX and I wish to put the panels on the laptops I have. The scenery can stay on my PC [3xscreens i7 etc]. I have WideFS and FSUIPC etc. I would like use 2d panels as well. VC has been great but with more screen real estate 2D is the way forward for me. Can someone possibly help me, much appreciated Paul
April 3, 201313 yr well... first you'll have to conect your laptop to your main-computer, than in fsx you "unlock-screen" (with opens a second screen) drag that newly opened screen to the screen possistion on your laptop and than by clicking "a" and "s" in that screen on your laptop you should ba able to make it go to 2d-pannel....But for the details I think you will need someone who has done this before.... hope I gave you atleast a bit help though!Good Luck!F747fly
April 4, 201313 yr Author Thank you Frits for your response. I am thinking in terms of utilising my network. This is not dragging and dropping (linking) screens/panels from one device to the other. The PC and laptop work independanly and the common link would be something similar to WideFS. I have GAPanel from Peixsoftware that works like a dream for my GA flying. My recent research is starting to suggest something like 3rd party panels like Project Magenta, however the huge expense is prohibitive for me. Has anyone with PMDG (great software) manage to run the native panels on a 2nd computer?
April 4, 201313 yr I hope you succeed! But I dont think it can be done. The only way (I think) is a new piece of software that has its own 2D B737 panels that are able to connect to the PMDG737NGX. And I dont see how that is possible unless someone develops this kind of software together with PMDG :-( If you do succed, let me know as I desperately need something like that too (for all my add on aircraft) ! April 5, 201313 yr this is my setup for the moment but would like to improved it. http://www.simulators.dk/sim/forum_topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7649&FORUM_ID=11&CAT_ID=1&Forum_Title=Hardware+og+indstillinger&Topic_Title=Sk%C3%A6rme+til+PFD%2FND+%28NGX%29 i also have a FMC from VRinsight Michael Moe
April 5, 201313 yr Hi Michael, That display setup is similar to what I have (without the hardware MCP though. Nice!) Instead of a monitor in the back, I have 46" TV. You are running in windowed mode with two VCs right? The bottom VC zoomed in on the PFD and ND. The problem with that is that it cuts my frame rate from 20-30fps in half :-( You dont have that problem? I now use the PFD + ND + Engine center display pop up panels and moved them to my bottom monitor (just click on the PFD in example and drag it to another display.) This way frame rate stays good. The thing is though, that upon resizing (enlarging) the PFD etc, the instruments become less sharp. Do you have that too (less sharp) when zoomed in on the PFD and ND? Rob Robson
April 5, 201313 yr I'm in a similar boat. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time, but I'm not sure you can break apart the NGX like that across multiple computers. If you could, I would think you'd have to install two copies of FSX and two of the NGX, then use WidevieW ( http://www.wideview.it ) to connect them both so they're in sync. Then, on the laptop display the 2D NGX panels, and on the main FS display just the outside view. Don't know how well the NGX would sync using that method, but I think it could be possible. I'm still holding my breath that PMDG will release a cockpit builders edition. They indicated it was something they wanted to do. I've played around with Sim Avionics but wonder how the fidelity is compared with the NGX, plus the cost is steep for any of the major players (SimA, ProjectMagenta, etc). And so much thought has been put into the little things with the PMDG NGX that I can't imagine anything else out there could compete if they put out a cockpit builder version. Tony
April 5, 201313 yr Wide view will only sync outside views. Not instruments etc. :-( OPUS FSX does a little better, but does not sync everything correctly either :-( Pmdg cockpit builder edition, wow that would be a dream :-) :-) Rob Robson
April 6, 201313 yr Remember a cockpit builder version is generally devoid of a Virtual Cockpit. There are some good suites out there that provide great simulated 737 systems, flight dynamics, and provide fantastic hardware compatibility.
April 6, 201313 yr Good point. Usually no virtual cockpit and not a complete 2D cockpit. Mostly the systems interface to connect hardware. So I'm not sure how PMDG might do it if they implement a cockpit builder version. My guess is similar to other providers I've mentioned. Tony

I honestly think it would be opening a can of worms they would rather keep sealed.
