Considering that the only thing I know is to recognize the components within a computer, do you think I can overclock a PC like yours? how?

Yes, but you must to be to be determined and ready to invest some time for reading  and testing. This is not for for people who use FSX occasionally, it's "full-time hobby" as a friend of mine often says :)

First, I recommend you to read this, to understand overclocking, risks, and real limits: http://www.overclock.net/t/476469/the-truth-about-temperatures-and-voltages

Then, some intel statements: http://www.overclock.net/t/1159500/1-45v-core-voltage-is-safe-for-i7-2600k-2700k

Some general things about overclocking sandy bridge: http://www.overclock.net/t/910467/the-ultimate-sandy-bridge-oc-guide-p67a-ud7-performance-review

And here you will find almost everything you need to reach stability, these guys are amazing, i used this to learn: http://www.overclock.net/t/968053/official-the-sandy-stable-club-guides-voltages-temps-bios-templates-inc-spreadsheet

I sugest you to go for H100 cooler instead of Noctua, and better graphic card then mine. This is my first PC build, and i didn't know all that things, but i am satisfied with the results anyway. Look at @@SolRayz system(BTW, i liked his system and fsx filosofy ^_^  ). With H100, you will be able to stay at 5GHz without problems.

For best results with FSX you need Windows 7 64bit. And you need to use some guides. And more time to study :)

For windows 7 tuning, i used Nick N. guide from "simforums".

And for FSX, i used Word Not Allowed's guide, from his website - "Word Not Allowed's Flight Simulation World".

And my advice, use FSX SP2 instead of Acceleration pack. Many will disagree, but this way you will stay out of some simconnect and performance trouble.

After all things are in place, it's good idea to use Acronis True Image 2011 for backup.

This combination worked best for me, i find it most equilibrated. Using this, my system, overclock and fsx are stable for long time, FSX settings are maxed out, i have tons of addons and no CTD's or OOM's.

And must important, i don't need to spend too much time to tweak something... just to fly

"Maxed out" Fsx settings is a tricky term. Compromises still have to be made with Fsx settings on rigs screaming at over 5 Ghz. Don't expect to be able to get 30+ FPS at KJFK or EGGL in the PMDG NGX using Aerosoft scenery with all the sliders to the right (including AI,Road traffic, Autogen etc)

Incredible help!!! thanks, you know I fly FSX like 6 years ago and this is the first time I am able to buy a PC by myself and I want it the best for FSX, I wont install any other program there, also I will use SSD for FSX only and with 3 monitors, I am very enthusiastic about it but I dont want to make mistakes, one more doubt, do you think the mother board of yours is better than an ASUS P8Z77-V?

I understand you, i bought my system last year, and before that used pretty poor PC for FSX.

About motherboards, i don't know really. I just like assus for OC. Just look what most of people's have on OC forums(links in previous post, or you can ask there too). But check that MB is compatible with your CPU, and options you like - how many USB ports for example :)

Yes, i said that i used Word Not Allowed's guide for FSX settings, so - no road traffic at all. Default road traffic is looking bad anyway, and addon airports will have own road traffic which you'll be able to see with fsx road traffic disabled. So, you will have road traffic at depparture and destination, and in the meantime, whille you are at 41000feet, who cares?

But scenery settings are all maxed out, and autogen. And i have 30fps(locked) at FSDT KJFK and CYVR. On Aerosoft airports, fps is going down to 24-27 in bad weather(REX clouds), but i don't really have the stutters. Only in really bad weather after last AS2012 update :)

AI traffic is on 0, i fly on VATSIM. I'll try how many fps i have now on EGLL(UK2000, i don't have Aerosoft), but last time it was flyable, with no too much traffic

Marc, quite a PC you have!!! thats my goal, how and where did you learn to OC? any advice?

Check out ASUS youtube channel tutorials for a general idea on OCing. I also subscribe to Overclock3d forum and follow tinytomlogan youtube channel for excellent component reviews and tutorials. Everything is on the web. Building and OC is not difficult, in fact, it's really a breeze these days.

Also as B247NG stated, search for Nick N's guide and Word Not Allowed's blog for OS and FSX tuning.

Hi Rob, I saw your video, great!!! and great specs!!! qhat frames do you get? do you play with frames restricted on cfg file? and please one question, where did you buy your PC or who overclocked it? I want to buy the same config but I don´t know where, could you help me please?

Thanks...

I lock frames in FSX @ 30.  When I record using FRAPS, I have FRAPS lock @ 20fps.

I put together the system myself (as many do here @ AVSIM) purchasing most of my components from newegg.com.

The overclock... I'm not big into tweaking or OC'ing... so I learned what I felt I needed to learn, then let the Asus Overclocking suite oc my comp.  I recorded the values so I can go back to default when I want to install something.

I typically follow the advice (FSX / OS setup, hardware, etc) of Nick Needham... he can be found over at simforums.com.
