Line up and wait

Featured Replies

How can I add the line up and wait .wav file to RC? I remembwe somewhere it was in the winwood but i cant find it now.

Thanks

It is easiest to work with the controller scripts. (There is no "line up and wait" in the pilot wavs that I noticed.)

To use this phrase every where by the RC Controllers instead of using taxi into position and hold in FAA airports (line up and wait is used now at FAA airports which conforms to ICAO universal standards) do this:

Go into the Scripts folder in your RCv4 folder. Open the Controller Scripts folder. Locate the lineup.txt file and double click on it to open it in a text editor or right click on it and select Open With and then choose notepad. Copy the file contents "line up and wait" (no quotes) to the clipboard. Close the file without saving.

Find the taxipos.txt file and open it in notepad or word as before.

Highlight the "taxi into position and hold" and then paste "the line up and wait" (no quotes) text over it. Be sure you can down-arrow the cursor at the end of the text line to the next blank line and if so save the file under the same name. Be sure the name remains taxipos.txt.

You may want to back up both unmodified files to your documents folder before editing to avoid an RC reinstall.

That should do it.

If there was an available .wav and script file in the pilot voices we could do that. I could not find the wav in the pilot voice libraries, just controllers.

Thanks Ronzie but I remember when the new phrase came out we had to go into all the win wood folders and copy the lineup and wait wav into them and rename them because rc looks for the taxipos.wav I found them in my old setup files but I got the wrong voice in some of the folders.

Each winwood .wav folder has an identification file in it. Here's what is in folder 20 that identifies the voice and function:

Controller name: Lawrence Chriscole

and is the contents of file !Laurie Chriscole V4 .txt. The .gif file by the way is the country flag.

There is a taxipos.wav file that you can overwrite with the lineup.wav file in the same folder to match the voice.

Here's how to determine the winwood folder number for controllers. Open RC and select the voices tab. The first voice is Ray Proudfoot. That is winwood folder two. Count the voices by column. The last voice is winwood folder 22, Graham Jackson.

Folders 2 through 22 are the only wav folders for the actual non-random (Prerecorded Chatter) controller folders.

Pilots 50 is Sanford Seidler, third on the list,  and 62 is Graham Jackson. These are kind of scattered however there is no lineup .wav files in these pilot folders to overwrite into the taxipos.wavs. This is echoed by the lack of lineup.txt in the pilot script folders

The RCv43.pdf manual has an added section all about .wav files and organization.

This is what little I have determined by inspection.

Well, I have just tried to only replace the lineup.txt text, as Ron adviced in his first post, and I now get the "line up and wait" phrase. No need to replace the wav files.

I did that also but the pilot still use the taxi into position and hold phrase

...but the pilot still use the taxi into position and hold phrase

Pilot? If I recall well it's only the controller that says that phrase, the pilot replies only with his callsign.

The pilot only replies with his call sign in Europe. In the US, he replies with "taxi into position and hold" still.
