No more Shimmering in HDR, my XP10 is amazing during Day/Night

Featured Replies

after updating to the latest xp10 beta and a fresh new install(8 dvd's = 2hr  ), my xp setup looks better than before :O , anyone notice the HDR improvements during the day/night.

I am using the latest 10.21b2 and will have to test it out to see if shimmering is gone for me also. That was a bit distracting to have the ground textures shimmer at certain angles upon sunrise/sunset. I really hope its fixed and gone for good.

got the pic/settings from Avsim fsx tweak forum

I'm no expert but AFAIK you can't use MS with HDR and I'm asking myself if your settings actually disable HDR mode because they force combined SS+MS. That would explain performance gain and better AA-quality. In addition to that I doubt that transparency Supersampling is of any use in XP, Ben never mentioned it. XP10 (esp. in HDR mode) and FSX are completely different when it comes to AA and FSX settings won't do no good I guess.

Can you post a night shot with cars and streetlamps?

But if you're happy with it...everything is allright.

Cheers

Are nVidia Inspector profiles universal across both DirectX and OpenGL graphics libraries?

I was under the impression that the vast majority of settings in nVidia Inspector / nHancer / etc profiles were strictly oriented towards DirectX, unless explicitly noted to be for OpenGL. Since X-Plane is OpenGL, wouldn't that make Inspector/nHancer changes relatively useless?

(I've been wrong before, though!)

I did not see in the release notes that this area of the sim was modified. I would think if they had made changes to HDR or any other eye pleasing changes it would have been mentioned. I could be wrong.

my settings in xp10 combined with above pic of NVIDIA INSP:

Problem I'm currently having with XP10 are shadows, at certain angles they're horrible, especially around water. I haven't sorted this problem out yet, but I'll keep trying ... any hints welcome.

P.S. Picture is kinda small, can't really read your settings.

I think I was too high   but it still looks good.

Well, I'm a little confused. Screenshot tells that you're running a GTX660, your PC specs say it's a GTX680. Taking a closer look at your specs I'd say you should be able to run XP10 with very high settings and good fps anway. But I guess this has little to nothing to do with nvidia inspector settings...but glad you found your perfect setup! Keep flying!
