Help please! Boeing 707-436 panel problem?

Featured Replies

Interesting. That could explain why there are differing results. I have downloaded and installed George's FS2002 version and it works but does have other problems like panels either not showing when selected or wrong ones showing. Can't see why there would be so much difference between FS2002 and FS9 so maybe I'll try fiddling around with some mixing and matching from different panels. I'll wait before contacting George to see if there is an answer from elsewhere.

>The error references MSVCRT.DLL....That is the same error I get every time. I might try to isolate each gauge - eliminate them all then add back one at a time to see if I can find the culprit. I know it must be the panel because it works with an aliased B737 panel. I hope there is a fix - looks like a good aircraft.

Same problem here, start FS2004 select aircaft, FS crashes to desktop immediately. Just wanted to see what it looked like (not into flying big aeroplanes) have deleted from system - pity.Adam

Well, when I eliminated all the gauges and made Window00 invisible at startup (the Captain, FO selection screen), then made Window01 visible at startup in panel.cfg, the cockpit loads the Captain's view bitmap fine. That is the good news. Next I added a gauge and no luck. I deleted that gauge and tried another and guess what.... yep, same thing. Tried this with 2 more and still crashed. Not being a glutton for punishment I gave up at that point.BTW, there appears to be a missing sound file, looks like "T_CNWY_s.wav" should be renamed "T_CNWY_START.wav", either that or change the file reference in Sound.cfg.

I am perplexed as to how I seem to be the only person who can run the panel?.StrangeDan.

Works fine here, been using it a while longer than the release of this 707-400 package. Though did download and install panel over the top of the one I'be been using as it said something about new this/that, but same ole same ole as the one I have been using. Evan have added the CIVA Delco INS system works with it 4.0

Well, this continues to be a puzzler. I looked at the panel.cfg file and it looked to me as though most of the .gau files should be part of a cab file; tried zipping them and renaming the zips to cabs but no luck except that the plane and the panel do at least load. No gauges, but it does load.I noticed that the opening bitmap, refers to the plane as FS2000 and FS2002 compatible. Perhaps the whole problem is that there is something there that is just not FS9 compatible. Are the two of you who reported no problems running FS9 or FS2002?Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpghttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Sen_captain.jpg

Ed, I think the guages are similar to concorde.gau whereby there are several gauges within the file. The Concorde gauges work OK. I'm thinking it might have more to do with VB files.

Dan, Any idea which VB version you are running?

FS9Dan.

Hi Charlie. Could be, but I have a lot of other A/C that have no problems with the VB Run file. It's interesting that the aircraft and even the panel bitmaps will load and apparently run WITHOUT the gauge files, so that points to a problem with one or more of them. I've tried it everyway that I can think of, but without any success.BTW, I did try it in FS2002 ( I still have it operational on a seperate drive) and it doesn't work there either for me so it's going to take someone more astute to solve this one.My system details ( just in case it helps someone figure it out)gigaByte 8INXP HT enabledP4 3.061024 PC266DDRATI Radeon 9700Pro, CAT 4.9Turtle Beach Santa Cruz SoundSaitek X-45 WinXP Pro SP2Addendum: My VBRun Files are 6.0; just out of curiosity, I did re-install them just in case WIN SP2 had done something odd with them, but still no joy. Is a puzzlement????!Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpghttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Sen_captain.jpg

Hi Ed and everyone else, I tried a little investigating to see which version of VB I am running. Went to Add/Remove programs and saw VB Runtime Files listed, clicked on change/remove (or whatever it says) and immediately it started uninstalling. I tried clicking on cancel but it was too late, it completed the uninstall of the VB files. I was about to do a system resore to put it back how it was, but then I thought to point the aircraft.cfg panel entry to the original panel, I started FS9, loaded the plane and to my surprise it works! Now, I need to know if the VB files are necessary for certain programs or features, not just for FS. I also would like to know if the panel was written with a specific set of VB files or whether there were none but of course only the author might know that. As far as I can remember my VB files were version 6. Can anyone advise for the benefit of all?

No problems here at all with this aircraft and panel. FS9/Windows XP HE (Service Pack 2 not installed).Jozef http://pluizig.ath.cx/signature.jpg

OK everyone, I think I've cracked it. Having just accidentally uninstalled the VB Runtime files from Add/Remove programs, I did a search on Google for Visual Basic Runtime files and I saw the link to MS site. The first page described the latest version of VB6 version 5 as having solved some problems and the download link was on the same page. I clicked on download, then clicked on open, then the message said do you want to install so I said yes. After installing, there was no listing in Add/Remove programs even after restarting the computer. I checked in Windows/System32 and found 2 Visual Basic files so assumed it installed OK. After this, the panel still works. Although I didn't do it, I would suggest to anyone else to set a system restore point before uninstalling and installing the latest VB files version just in case it messes something else up. On the other hand, perhaps the previous version had been messing up other things, who knows? Good luck to anyone brave enough to try it, however I don't see why there should be any problem with having the latest files installed. If anyone more knowledgeable can add to this then please do!

Glad yours is OK Josef. If anyone with the problem has not seen my latest message further up in this thread about my fix then please look again. Thanks to everyone who contributed. Now I want to see what this panel can do!
