May 9, 201313 yr So, today FSX randomly would not load past the splash screen for me. It would load for a while, and then just as it is about to finish loading (I know because I have an addon that makes a window with some text pop up in the last few seconds of loading), the splash screen closes without bringing me to the main FSX menu. Here are some fixes I tried: -I installed FS9 yesterday and have not used FSX since. I uninstalled FS9, but there was no change. -I downloaded and tried fsxlogrecovery11.zip. It did not detect any problems with my logbook. -Just to be sure, I re-named the logbook BIN file(along with the backup made by fsxlogrecovery). No change. -I re-named the fsx.cfg file. A bunch of dialog boxes asking me to confirm certain gauges popped up, but FSX still did not load. -I inserted the Acceleration disc, repaired Acceleration, and re-started my computer. No change. I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but iTunes will not stay open for me either. It goes into 'not responding' mode a few seconds after i load it. Can anyone help me? Would a system restore help? Thank you. hamoody.
May 9, 201313 yr I had the same issue yesterday and it was the FSUIPC update. rename fsuipc.dll to fsuipc.dll.ori and see if it works. If not, rename it back and you at least removed another variable. If so, you had a corrupted logbook. There are a number of Logbook Editors available.Example - http://lc0277.gratisim.fr/software.html FSX will have created a new - Logbook.BINRename it to - Logbook_Empty.BIN Copy - Logbook_DATE.BINRename the copy as - Logbook.BIN Open the logbook in the editor.Delete the last entry.Save the file & close the editor. Fire up FSX.Hopefully that should work, and you'll have all, but your very last flight, logged. Back up your logbook & granted rewards files regularly. Caveat -If your logbook contains any single-flight with more than 100 landings, then do not attempt to use Lamont Clarke's editor,as it may cause irrecoverable corruption.Use one of the alternative repair tools instead, (suggest deleting landings to < 100). August 19, 201411 yr Know this thread is old, but I have the same problem. Even if I rename or change logbook.bin or fsx.cfg nothing happens. does not get behind splash screen.Disappointing, since I just finished my B737 throttle and wanted to test it..... Tried a repair as well, without any positive result.
August 19, 201411 yr I had this happen to me when my default flight got corrupted somehow. Try navigating you the directory where your saved flights are, they end with .FLT. Double-click one of them and see if that gets you into the sim. Hans Soule
August 20, 201411 yr Commercial Member Just disable one by one entry in dll.xml, and you will probably find the culprit. Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.
August 20, 201411 yr The fact that you are having problems with iTunes too makes me suspect more likely a system configuration issue. I would try a system restore back to a point where you know it was working OK. You always have the option of reversing a system restore. August 20, 201411 yr A long shot - but just occasionally a dialogue box that needs a yes or no answer gets stuck behind the splash screen. Open up the task manager, have a look at what's running, if you see anything likely, use the "Switch to" button to bring it to the fore. Eugene
