May 10, 201313 yr Due to a hard drive crash iv`e lost many files including the tool for converting textures from 32bit to dxt can anyone help i need to find it again.
May 10, 201313 yr Hi, I use DXTbmp from here: http://www.mwgfx.co.uk/ You'll find it when you go to "Program List" in the menue column at the left. Don't forget to download the dll set if you need it after the crash, available at the bottom of the "Program List". Good luck! Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
May 10, 201313 yr Keep in mind though that not all 32bit textures should be converted if you want your sim to look its best. Light splash textures, prop textures and generally textures with detailed gradient colors are best left as 32bit. Converting these will result in bad looking color banding.
May 21, 201313 yr Sorry, my mistake, what was I thinking?! I use convimx for batch conversions too ... Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
May 21, 201313 yr In convimx you mean? Yes, parameters applied to one file can be applied to a folder full, thousands if you so wished - you select which ones you want to change and convimx then just goes ahead and does the lot. . Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
May 21, 201313 yr I've been using Xnconvert and its commandline brother nconvert... they do a very fine job and do it quickly, too.
May 21, 201313 yr So you can re-size textures Not in convimx. It would be nice to have a one-step process to resize, flip, and write a DDS to a DXT3 file. I went to the Xnconvert download page and received a free file viewer instead. Very irritating...
May 22, 201313 yr No - I don't dwell on the Dark Side too much, just every now and then someone foolishly produces a nice DDS "skin" as they call them, for a plane that is also FS9 native. I've been known to convert that for use in my sim...
