October 9, 200421 yr Posted on 10/8/04Flight 1 Software has released an update for their latest aircraft, the 172R Skyhawk. The update revises and/or updates the following items:- Added more dihedral to the visual model wings.- Altered windshield shape.- Many other visual items added to the aircraft exterior- Revised airfiles now loaded by default. Some people complained of excessive up trim on aircraft initialization. This did not effect all users. The revised air files should resolve this anomoly. - Added a directory under the 172 aircraft folder named
October 9, 200421 yr Typical Flight1 support--110 pct. I don't have the 172, but I'll always be a fan of Flight1 and will consider adding any release they promote very seriously.-John
October 10, 200421 yr This plane is absolutely fabulous! The panel sets new standards for realism (2d and VC).If you fly any version of the MS Cessna 172... go get this plane... It will blow you away!www.flight1.com Bert
October 10, 200421 yr Bert,Could I impose upon you to check two things in your C172R, and then report your findings?2D Altimeter
October 10, 200421 yr Robert,Confirmed.Using the mouse wheel, the altimeter increments 2992, 2993, 2994 etcLikewise, the elevator trim adjusts both up and down in the VC. Bert
October 10, 200421 yr Hey Bert,Thank you.You taught me something, and you solved a problem that I was having with the Flight1 C172R. Both items have to do with your mentioning that you used the mouse wheel.2D cockpit altimeter:I was adjusting the altimeter using the
October 11, 200421 yr Robert,Happy it worked for you! You can also "grab" the trim wheel with the hand and drag it up and down with the left mouse button depressed... Bert
July 6, 200520 yr Flight 1 have released the Skyhawk 172R v1.3 update for the sensitive trim condition that some users had with the airplane:http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_post...?TID=12174&PN=1http://www.flight1software.com/172/update/...2_update1_3.exe
July 6, 200520 yr 26MB - Wow, they must have done more than change the trim...I just changed the elevator_trim_effectiveness from 1 to 0.25 in the aircraft.cfg file and it worked great. Sure, it may have fudged the autopilot's ability to track the glideslope, but this is not the type of aircraft I would use to make fully automatic approaches with anyway since it's such a great hand-flier aircraft (after changing the trim sensitivity...)Still, I'll get this update tonight when I'm not using my blazing 56k connection for anything else :) -
July 6, 200520 yr The updates are usually all inclusive so a new user and old timer can use the same .exe.-John
July 6, 200520 yr I like the new version better. The trim is less sensitive and the plane easier to trim, using the keyboard commands. Bert
July 6, 200520 yr Commercial Member Nothing with respect to the trim changed. This is why it important for people to understand "do not" change anything in the airfile. The problem was related to a custom variable in the AP that was very hard to track and it would effect some users trim but not everyones. Do not change the aircraft.cfg values or you can hose up other areas of the flight model.Regards,Jim Rhoads

Unless I change the trim_effectiveness down to at least 0.5, it is virtually impossible to trim out the plane, it keeps overshooting -- even the slightest touch on the trim zooms the nose up or down.It this going to be fixed? I just bought the plane in the last month, so have the patched version I presume.* Orest-~~~~~~~~~Orest Skrypuchwww.united-virtual.comUAL1445 Staff ORDFO Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
July 7, 200520 yr OrestI don't believe you visited Flight1's site before asking the question. It says:"You do not need this file if your main installation program says version 1.3 in the main installation screen or if you have downloaded the main installer after July 2, 2005."Unless you installed the 172 within the past couple of days, I don't believe you have the latest patch.-John
